Everton 1 Chelsea 0 (Naismith)
Time to show the league what we can do, buoyed up by the fantastic transfer window signings, we shall now begin to demonstrate what being Everton is all about. Gazbow is banished to the lower echelons of analfield for interrupting a match thread,
This is the time for the goodison roar to make a difference , A hard fought 2-1 win for us, mirallas and kone.

Hopefully this is were we kick start are season with a win against the Chavs, a good transfer window has given us all renewed hope, shame the Big Feller Lukaku is unable to play but maybe ? with more competition for places Kone & Jelavic will both start performing.
Going for a 2-1 win for the mighty toffee's with Mirallas & Jelavic on the score sheet .

2-1 and Lampard will definitely score......as he always does against us.
Re: Everton 1 Chelsea 0 (Naismith)
I reckon this game will give us our first glimpse of how much we have to do before we are able to play ticky tacky footie properly.
Chelsea midfield will be a real handful when going forward, so we need to be able to hold them, but we still need to be able to score. Kone has had the last couple of weeks to work on his fitness so there should be no excuses and I expect him to start with jelli on the bench.
If we get beat 5-0 then it's going to be a long season.

I don't think getting hammered in this game will define our season at all. It's early days. If we won 5-0 it wouldn't define it either. Though, to be honest, I think it may be a long season anywaySaccum Praestigiatorum wrote:I reckon this game will give us our first glimpse of how much we have to do before we are able to play ticky tacky footie properly.

1-2, our consolation goal in the 89th minute from a mazy run and sexy chip by Delafoofoo.

I dont understand the lack of confidence a lot of people have this season. In another word, Wigan
Just not feeling confident mate, moyes had us set up to make the best of the players we had and be hard to beat. Boberto has us set up to play to his system, and that ignores the weaknesses of the players we have.
So I expect us to try to pass the ball out of defence, lose it, and give goals away on a regular basis. Against Chelsea it'll be like giving them a 5-0 start.
If we play to our potential we can win it, but we haven't managed to beat Norwich, west brom, or the other lot we played either, so expecting a spanking because Chelsea are a much better side than any we have played against so far.

No bad thing if you ask me.Bryan wrote:No Gibson or Pienaar today
Mirallas and Deulofeu on the wings should scare other teams. Barry, McCarthy and Barkley should be the middle 3 for me as well.
Re: Everton 1 Chelsea 0 (Naismith)
I wouldn't start the Spanish lad against Chelsea, doing well against Stevenage is one thing, but he seems to be a bit of a luxury player for me and not keen on tracking back and like it or not you have to do that against Chelsea.Dixie Land wrote:No bad thing if you ask me.Bryan wrote:No Gibson or Pienaar today

As long Barkley is instructed not to venture into our half. He scares me the way he gives the ball away so cheaply at times. But behind the striker, I think he has the potential to be magnificent.Dixie Land wrote:No bad thing if you ask me.Bryan wrote:No Gibson or Pienaar today

So...
Howard
Coleman jags Distin Baines
FooFoo McCarthy Barry Mirallas
Barkley
Kone
But I think Ossie wil get the nod ahead of FooFoo, which would be fine as long as FooFoo gets at least 30 minutes at the end when we're chasing the game.
Re: Everton 1 Chelsea 0 (Naismith)
I agree with you MC but Pienaar has looked poor all season and I am afraid that Ossie may not be the same player again (even though he is one of my favourite players). I would play another wide player if we had the choice but we don't really have one. Hopefully Deulofeu can step up if he is given the chance against a big team.Michael Crosby S74 wrote:I wouldn't start the Spanish lad against Chelsea, doing well against Stevenage is one thing, but he seems to be a bit of a luxury player for me and not keen on tracking back and like it or not you have to do that against Chelsea.Dixie Land wrote:No bad thing if you ask me.Bryan wrote:No Gibson or Pienaar today
