14 - Beto
fingers crossed ... arms crossed, legs crossed.... testicles crossed..
Sean Dyche has reportedly made a bid for Udinese striker Beto in the closing hours of the transfer window, amid Everton’s need for reinforcements.
It’s fair to say that the task Dyche has signed up for in managing the Toffees is going to be tough one. They sit 19th in the table, and have won just three league games all season.
After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, the threat of the drop is once again a very real one.
That means signings are going to be paramount for his success at the club. But with just a few hours left until the window closes, that’s easier said than done.
There have been links to Conor Gallagher, that may or may not come to fruition. Whether or not Chelsea will sell is a big question, with Jorginho more than likely heading to Arsenal.
It’s the top end of the pitch that seems most like it needs a boost, though. That Anthony Gordon left for Newcastle United means Dyche is already a player light, and thus in worse circumstances than Frank Lampard left the club in.
What’s more, the top goalscorer in all competitions at the club this season – Demarai Gray – has scored just five times.
If Everton can’t start finding the net, their chances of staying up will continue to fade.
‘Concrete offer’ made for Beto
That’s something Dyche has clearly identified quickly since becoming manager. The former Burnley boss could be soon to make his first January snare in attack.
Indeed, Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb reports that Everton have made a ‘concrete offer’ for Udinese striker Beto.
That is said to be in the region of €25million (approx £22million) including add-ons.
The report states Udinese will now ‘evaluate what to do’. For Everton, of course, time is of the essence, with the window closing soon.
They’ll want the Italian side to come to a decision soon, so they can either take the snare forwards, or go on to other options.
Beto could save Everton
The need for somebody who knows where the goal is is apparent at Everton. After top scorer Gray, and Gordon – who no longer plays for the club – the best goals tally is just two.
And in terms of goals from central strikers, Neal Maupay and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have scored just once each.
While it’s not certain a new forward would have a better output, it can’t hurt to try.
What’s more, Beto has been in good goalscoring form over the last couple of seasons. This term, he’s scored seven goals in 20 Serie A games.
That followed up a tally of 11 goals in 28 league games last season. Should he have a similar impact at Everton, he could just help to drag them away from the drop zone.

I wouldn't bother since we got McNeil and Maupay to save us from relegation.
Just saying.

Old news. Beto ain't happening. Gallagher ain't happening.
Right now we're opening the phones to any striker who wants to offer himself. As long as you've got a pair of boots and some of your own teeth, please ring Billy K on 0151 123 1878.

Let's revisit Beto then. Don't get excited, I've seen no chat to suggest we might be in for him again (or if we can even afford him) but I stumbled across this goal he scored earlier this season. His goal kicks in about halfway through this vid. He's good, he gives me Callum Wilson vibes, therefore would be precisely what we need.
25 years old, 6' 4", a consistent goal-every-three-games striker for a couple of mid-table teams in Portugal and Italy, and it would make my boy's summer if we could get him.

Re: 14 - Beto
I looked up a few videos of him in January and he looked great. Right age, right physical attributes, sign him.

Well need to offer £40m plus I guess. Or alternatively £45M plus Tom Davies

£45m plus Dele Alli off our books and you might have a deal.
Probably nearer £30m I'd say, although multiple offers and a bidding war would obviously drive the price up a bit.
But what price a striker, eh? After this season? If we need to sell, say, Onana, in order to bring in an actual striker then we sell Onana, it's as simple as that.
We've also been linked with Wout Weghorst again, who is taller than Beto, but is also 30 and doesn't score goals, so would probably be about £15m.
Speaking personally and regardless of how good or bad Weghorst is, I'd rather we weren't spending actual pounds on 30-year-olds with little sell-on value when money is tight. But if that's the best we can do then so be it, as long as we get (at least) one in.

Ellis Simms has been sold to Coventry, while Neal Maupay is also expected to be moved on in the final few weeks of the summer window.
Re: 14 - Beto
my reference to the kid was Chermiti Thor, not Simms or Cannon... and if Maupey goes, well it's better than playing with 10 men, which is what it's like when he's on the parkKnight of Thorgothshire wrote:I think you missed the last part of the article mate....Made 4 Gwladys wrote:I hope so... a kid that has only scored a few goals is good for the future, but we need a more established striker.... fingers crossed IMOTonteau wrote:Beto back on?

We soooooo need Beto ... if we sign Beto & Gnonto I reckon we'll be ok this season.... 2 BIG ifs right there !!

awww mate... I'd be gutted.... imagine losing that level of attacking venom & magnificent finishing.... we'd be in huge trouble ... maybe we should do a chavski on him & increase his salary to 300k a week on a ten year contract to repel any suitors ?Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:I was just saying that according to the article, Maupay would be on the move yet you made no comment on that.Made 4 Gwladys wrote:my reference to the kid was Chermiti Thor, not Simms or Cannon... and if Maupey goes, well it's better than playing with 10 men, which is what it's like when he's on the parkKnight of Thorgothshire wrote:I think you missed the last part of the article mate....Made 4 Gwladys wrote:I hope so... a kid that has only scored a few goals is good for the future, but we need a more established striker.... fingers crossed IMOTonteau wrote:Beto back on?

anyway... Beto probably has a clause inserted by his agent that Beto cannot ever set foot on the park with Mauperdick, in case any of the crap rubs off on him

Re: 14 - Beto
Everton have opened discussions with Udinese over a move for Portuguese striker Beto, 25, but the Serie A club will not sell him unless his £30m release clause is met.

Moshiri: Let's pretend we're in for Beto
Bill: Great idea, I'll get on it right away. Can I come to the match on Saturday please?

Thelwell: "We're clearly fucked if we don't sign a striker. This fella Beto is available to us. He's big, fast and nasty and knows where the goal is. He's currently at some nothing Italian club and is keen to come to England even though the coffee over here is immeasurably worse".
Bill: "Excellent. He clearly ticks every box. How do we ensure that we get him, and thus ensure that we don't have to endure another season of striker misery, thus making a further, possibly terminal dalliance with relegation that bit less likely?"
Thelwell: "He has a £30m release clause. We could have this wrapped up inside a couple of days".
Moshiri: "Offer them £25m".
Bill: "Yes, that seems like the best way of getting the player we desperately need while saving ourselves a few quid. I see no issue with this idea".
Thelwell: "Pair of wankers. I'll just work out my notice and fuck off at the end of September if that's OK?"
You never know, it might work. But when I think about that extra £5m and offset it against the estimated £100m+ loss in the event of relegation, I just start weeping quietly to myself.
