Re: Everton v Brighton
In fairness, we haven't been too awful in midfield and up front. Poor, but not dreadful. But the defence have been AWOL this evening.

We're not down yet, lots of teams in and around the same place as us, but something has to chang for us to stand a chance of PL football next season.
Can Lampard survive much longer?

What is clear to see is that Brighton don't have better players, they are just coached better. Potter/Zerbi vs Lampard (and all those that preceded him)...

I think they have better players too. But I do think Lampard is a poor manager compared to everyone else in the PL.
Re: Everton v Brighton
I reckon Lampard will start a few of the kids in the Cup. Has to drop half of this lot anyway.

Re: Everton v Brighton
He's gone. No coming back from this.
Of course, we won't do it properly. We won't be like Brighton, who lost Potter and had de Zerbi in place with his own nameplate on the door within 20 minutes. Oh no, we'll bin him two days after the cup defeat at United and then announce that "we've started a search for a new manager" while asking Baines to keep us ticking over for two months.
A crack panel of Kenwright, Jimmy Krankie, Rose West and Benny from Crossroads will work day and night to appoint the RIGHT MAN to take Everton forward. Who will turn out to be Alan "I Always Knew I Had One More Job In Me" Pardew.
Cheer yourselves up by watching the best leg of darts ever.

Re: Everton v Brighton
To add, changing the manager is simply a throw of the dice, another blind shot and keeping our nostrils above the waterline for another 6 months. We all know what the root cause is.
Lampard may be a Championship manager, the squad may be a Championship squad. That group of people currently running this club are fucking Conference North level. Frank Spencer re-imagined as a club board.

Re: Everton v Brighton
Not sure anyone could be worse? Lamps is clueless. Maybe get Liz Truss in for a short while? I mean, what damage could she do?

Re: Everton v Brighton
I haven't a clue what we should do. Sack Lampard, get another journeyman manager in who will spend a load of money on players that he wants, only to sack him in a year's time? Or stick with Lampard, give him money to spend on players that he wants, only to sack him later in the season? At some point, we're going to have to stop this managerial merry go round shit, even if it means we get relegated, because we'll be doing the same thing in the Championship.

Stick with Lampard. Our number one priority HAS to be completions of the Stadium. It is our utter misfortune that we were delayed by around 10 years from doing what we needed to do all that time ago. Ideally I want us to hang on as best as we can. I still think there are more than three worse candidates, Southampton, Forest, Wolves, Leeds and West Ham. If there is anything to be gleaned that is a positive it is that we at least ave more experience of being in a dogfight. In that regard, my outside bet is West Ham who having enjoyed a sustained period of decency might have lost that combative edge they had around 10 years ago.
It is depressing, but I am not totally downcast.

Assuming we lose to ManUre on Friday, the Southampton game is the clincher. If we lose that one, Lamps is toast. He is pretty clueless so doubt we could be worse off whoever comes in (famous last words). Just a fucking shit show all round

The ONLY concern for me is to finish no lower than 17th in the prem..
As Judge says... then we have a new stadium, new revenue streams, new budget .... and that is the time for a new manager

Re: Everton v Brighton
Have to confess I avoided this game completely and watched the darts world championship final. It was one of my better decisions this year. A belting final with the right result and the best leg ever in darts! https://twitter.com/SkySportsDarts/status/1610378481002586114?
