Watford v Everton
I'm on a hat-trick of match thread wins so I'm starting up the thread now.
I'm working late tonight until about 8:30 / 9:00 so I may miss the game totally, or catch the end... unless I can skip away quietly & early.
Anyway .. no big write up apart from to say a win here, then against Brentford would 99% make us safe...so

I'm shitting it (again) because I'm worried that we'll lose our intensity after a couple of massive wins, and Watford will have nothing to lose. They fucked us 5-2 at Goodison, so there is something to fear here.
That last few games we've started to have a bit of luck - opposition shots going just wide, Jordan making one-off brilliant saves etc - so I think we're going to need that to continue for us to get a result here. A point wouldn't be the end of the world, but a defeat would really put the pressure on again.
1-5 to the mighty blues: Demarai Gray screamer, two pens for Richie, a bizarre Pickford goal direct from a clearance, and an Elton John own goal off the back of his piano. Luther Blissett consolation for the Hornets.

I'm exactly the same, this game is giving me more worries than Leicester. We've been terrible so often against bad teams.
Maintain the intensity and play error-free footy and we should be OK. I see the Leicester away win as a massive bonus, and I'd have settled for draws in both of these away games anyway. So I'm taking a draw now if you offered it to me. Might change my mind if Leeds look like they're going to get something from the Chelsea game, which kicks off earlier than ours.
Re: Watford v Everton
I just read that we are taking 7,000 fans to Watford. Don't know if that's true and I'm sure we don't have that much allocation, but it's fucking incredible if so. I think we may win tonight, despite the usual fears, purely on the back of our support.
I just read this article, which is really only loosely linked to the point I'm making, but seems very accurate from my personal Everton experience; https://www.grandoldteam.com/2022/05/11/our-club/.
Anywhere, here's to a beautiful game tonight and a 2-0 victory for the Blues (Sharp and Gray.) May we secure our status amongst the elite and storm to 7th next season with a new brand of high-intensity tiki-gegen-samba-taka football.

My lad told me about this, he read something similar, and he reckons about 5000 of them will be in with the home fans.
I've sat with the home fans at Watford a couple of times in the past and there always seem to be plenty of Blues in there, happy to jump up when we score without giving the tiniest fuck if they upset the locals. The kind of thing you might think twice about at Millwall, say, but Watford (like all Home Counties clubs) is all arl arses and families.

Outstanding article. However, a caveat...what followed 1994 was 1998, and a few other long-forgotten seasons when we dallied with the drop but got ourselves to safety a couple of weeks before the end of the season. I totally buy the idea that '94 rekindled something in us all, but our fortunes on the field of play took a good ten years to properly change for the better. An invested, passionate crowd, although welcome, can only get us so far.
Re: Watford v Everton
Having not watched the last couple of games, I'm going to tune in for this one. So we'll probably lose and it will be my fault

Re: Watford v Everton
I understand why frank wants them to play safe, but this Watford team would be three or four down to most PL sides by now. We’ve created nothing and I can see us fucking up and losing this one, which would be a crime. Three points on a plate here if we up our game a bit.
Two quick goals after half time to settle us down. If we fuck this, the fans won’t be as forgiving as they have been.
