Big unit.
Maybe what RB is looking for, holding up play, throwing himself around CBs?
I don' think he's as bad as is being made out.
At 31 he's gonna be cheap?

Nobody else on the horizon, unless we wait for Cenk?

Re: 33 - Salomon Rondon FFS
If he's half as successful as Josh King....
If to be believed, then our best piece of business today was Man Utd blocking our late move for Donny van der Beek.

I'll settle for somewhere in between Josh King (literally an occupier of space) and Enner Valencia (a goal every seven games.)
Actually I think he's better than that. We're Everton and we're (temporarily and technically, if not actually) skint again, so we can't expect too much from our back-up striker. I'm OK with this signing.
Doubtless the legendary Finch Farm production line will be churning out teenage Gerd Mullers any day now, so let's not fret. And if all else fails, we can do a Steve Watson job and convert Mick Keane into an emergency striker. Or, we can emulate Pep and go 4-6-0 with no striker. Or we can play a ringer ("if you get booked, tell the ref your name is Calvert-Lewin, OK?")
The options are limitless when you think about it. Don't know what we're worried about.
Re: 33 - Salomon Rondon FFS
No Fee?
So we've spent 20p on 2 wingers, 1 striker, 1 goalie and Lonnie Donegan.
Mind you we barely got 20p back for the all the Outs. Not a penny for a bunch of mercenaries who cost us over £100M ! Then there's Siggy and Jimmy.
This is a Moyes window.

It is. And you know what? I'm OK with it. There's something strangely comforting about us looking after the pennies again.
Also, not incidentally, we have no fecking choice. We've tried being uselessly run while skint (Johnson), being reasonably well-run while skint (Kenwright) and being uselessly run with some money (Moshiri).
The only option we haven't tried yet is being well-run while having some money. Shall we give that a try now, Farhad? But FFP dictates that being well-run has to come first. It's a bit like your ma taking your bank card away from you when you're 16 because you're blowing that little nest egg she shoved away in an ISA for you on booze, drugs and fags.
It's easy to forget how dark the Walter Smith/early Moyes years were, when we genuinely didn't have a bean. This isn't the same - at least we know the money is there in a pot, waiting for us, once we prove that we're able to spend it wisely. FFP is a crock of shit as it enshrines the privileges of the elite, but it's there, nothing we can do about it other than learn how to manage within those rules. Good times may lie ahead, if we can learn to do that. Yet more patience required, unfortunately.
Re: 33 - Salomon Rondon FFS
I don't think this was the window that Rafa - or Brands for that matter - envisaged. I mean, we tried to buy players (or at least bring them in on loan), and we tried to sell players (or at least give the fuckers away), but weren't very successful.
A successful transfer window would have seen us bring in that Portuguese lad, Danny Diaz or whatever he's called, the Dutch flying winger Denzel Washington, the 12 year old Rangers right back Keith Kiltflasher, the Arsenal reject right back who thinks he's a midfield general Harry Naysmith-Muller, and a host of others that we bid 12p and packet of Refreshers for. Also we would have convinced Marine to take on James's £200k a week salary, and sold Siggy to someone who never reads the newspapers.
As it is, we did our best business early, and left our thoroughly underwhelming business til the last hour of the window.
So, welcome to Everton Solomon Grundy and I hope you score loads.

Haven't heard, but he came on with the odd 5 minutes plus stoppage time today against the Saints. With the risk of injury, why would he be featured?Made 4 Gwladys wrote:The BBC said today that Rondon has agreed to go to UA & will leave in the next few days ???
