4 points off the top at this stage is remarkable for our rag-tag bunch of hopefuls, old pros, and loanees.

Went in to the Tesco cursing it at 1-1, came out it was 4-1! Happy days

A sign of a good team is not playing too well and taking the points and we did that today.
8 goals in the last two home games thrown in amongst an away win at Old Trafford and a point at Le Arse

Never in doubt!
5th top scorers. Joint best defence. Goal difference of +12! When was the last time it was that high at this stage of the season?

Alpesh Patel: With Everton playing so well under Martinez, it makes me wonder how good a job Moyes did there. Did he hold them back?

Everton boss Roberto Martinez on Gerard Deulofeu's injury: "It doesn't look great, it's a soft tissue injury, he pulled his hamstring.
"We will do the scan straight away, he felt it and we will assess it, he is like a sprinter and the hamstrings are exposed in those sort of injuries."

Another stunning win. Not that we were worth a 4-1 win, but fuck it we DID win 4-1. Again, goals from open play, again a goal from a full back in open play. I don't care how good Moyes was, we would have drawn that game under him. Under Martinez we won it 4 fucking 1. Under Moyes, when Foo got injured he would have brought on Naismith or a defender. Martinez doesn't even think about that and swaps like for like, even though we were one up at the time.
Of course this will all go tits up eventually, we're riding our luck. But right now Martinez is working miracles.
This is the best I've seen from an Everton team since the eighties. Rejoice!

The whole club have a positive approach. It showed today. As you say, we would have drawn that game last year, or maybe worse, but a positive mindset saw us through.
The lack of McCarthy highlighted how well he has played. Although Ossie had a reasonable game, Macca keeps the game tidy, and with Barry, ensures a solid middle. Today, we saw Barkley coming deeper than he normally does, Ossie without the clout of McCarthy, Seamus not always on the same wavelength as Foofoo, messy link-ups, and the rest of the team not quite at their 100% level of the last 2 games.
4-1 will do us well. Good sides win bad games. Let's throttle the Swans necks next week. Are we allowed to do that?

I thought we played well, but passed very poorly ... we still maintained 60+% possession in the first half .. not sure about the second half. Key players were a little lackluster today.. Luka, Jags, Foo ... but we still lawnmowered them... we can't play great every week, but if today is playing poor then bring it on... Martinez is a fucking genius... we could threaten the top & really can make champions league.. with a pittance spent in comparison to others...

yes bang on about McCarthy. I was thinking Barkley was deeper than usual, and that was probably why - either Robbie had told him he needed to drop back to give Ossie some help, or he was just drawn back cos Fulham were playing a higher pressing game than Arse or Mancs - but he didn't have his best game that's for sure. Seamus has been one of our most improved players this season - he seems to be coming inside more often rather than just bombing down the wing, and both his goals in recent games have come for inside the box, quite central positions. There is a lot of mobility about the team right now, everyone is turning up everywhere, it's exhilarating at times.
I really thought this was going to be the game when it all went wrong. But that'll probably be next week....
