Luke Garbutt has been offered deals by Swansea City and Bournemouth as clubs begin to circle around the Everton left-back.

The 22-year-old is out of contract next month and although the Blues have put fresh terms on the table, the defender has yet to agree, report the Liverpool Echo.

Garbutt was expected to start Everton’s final two games of the season following an injury to Leighton Baines but Brendan Galloway has been preferred in matches with West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur.

The England under-21 international, who has made 10 appearances for the Blues this season, wants regular first-team football but finds himself in the queue at Goodison behind Baines while also jostling for his place with Bryan Oviedo.

Everton want Garbutt to sign a new contract, and would look to secure a season out on loan in the Premier League, but the former Leeds United youngster is still mulling over his future although he did appear to be saying his goodbyes after the defeat to Spurs on Sunday.

Tough call for the lad. It's hard to see Baines being dropped, so he'll be second choice LB at best (assuming Oviedo is injured, which he always is). And at 22 he should be playing regular first team football.

On the other hand, I hope he sees that Barks and Stones have been given plenty of opportunities (and Bobby wasn't afraid to leave Dizzy out permenantly in favour of Stones). I hope he stays but he'll probably leave.

Swansea City have offered a contract to Everton defender Luke Garbutt, according to a report in the Daily Star.

Garbutt's contract at Goodison Park expires next month and Swansea are reportedly looking to capitalise on the uncertainty over the youngster's future. Everton are keen to keep Garbutt at the club, but it's thought that the left-back may opt to look elsewhere. Garbutt knows that he faces tough competition for a place in Everton's first team, with Leighton Baines currently the club's first-choice in his favoured position.

It means that the 21-year-old may choose to move on if he feels his development would be better served by playing regular competitive football. Swansea apparently believe they could offer him that, but there would still be competition for places at the Liberty Stadium. The Welsh club have recently persuaded Neil Taylor to sign a new contract and Garbutt would have to dislodge him to get a place in the team.

Everton have confirmed that Antolin Alcarez and Sylvain Distin will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of the month.
A new contract has been offered to Luke Garbutt while Christian Atsu, Aaron Lennon and David Henen have returned to their parent clubs.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the 22-year-old will sign a five-year deal at Goodison Park, but will spend the entirety of next season out on loan, as the Merseyside club are not convinced that he is ready to challenge Leighton Baines for a regular first-team spot.

Newly-promoted Bournemouth are currently the favourites to sign him, with his parent club wanting him to stay in the top flight.

The Echo report that the Cherries, along with Swansea City, had offered the full-back a contract when his future was up in the air. And that interest may remain despite the former Leeds trainee committing himself to Roberto Martinez’s side.

Although he joined the club six years ago, it was not until this past season that he really established himself as a potential first-team player. He made ten appearances in all competitions, and showed glimpses of real quality, especially when crossing the ball.

Luke Garbutt will complete a dramatic u-turn and commit his long-term future to Everton. The 22-year-old defender is close to finalising a new five-year-deal with the Blues after lengthy negotiations with the club.

Garbutt will be sent on loan to another Premier League outfit next season before returning to Goodison for the 2016-17 campaign where he will challenge Leighton Baines for the left-back slot. Bournemouth are the current favourites to take the England under-21 international but an agreement is yet to be sorted. The south coast side, along with Swansea City, offered Garbutt a permanent deal after the full-back’s contract with Everton expired. But after long and at times uncertain negotiations, the Harrogate-born defender is now set to stay with the Toffees.

Garbutt was left out of the Everton squad for the final two games of the season, despite injuries to Baines and Bryan Oviedo, and looked to be heading out of the club.
Everton had tabled an new contract offer in February but the former Leeds United youngster had still not agreed new terms by the end of the season, increasing speculation that he was ready to leave the club in search of first-team football.

In May, Roberto Martinez said: “Obviously, we want to keep him, but the player needs to be fully on board and we should find out very soon.” Garbutt’s future remained unresolved as he went away on international duty with the u-21s for the European Championships but a breakthrough has now been reached.

The defender, who made 10 appearances for the Blues last season, is close to putting paper on a new long-term deal and has agreed to spend the 2015-16 campaign on loan.

With a one year loan move tied in, its a good bit of business by the club. Gives the player plenty of game time improve. Hopefully first choice in the next year of two.
