I use the finest goose fat, rub it hard for a good ten minutes, then finish it off with a silk handkerchief to get it really glowing.

as goose fat is expensive, would you recommend reusing the goose fat for anything else or just throw it in the bin?

No, as it is so pricey, I always scrape the goose fat off my knob and use it to roast my potatoes.
