Yeah I chose not to watch it. I feel that for us to survive this season, I mustn't watch another game all season, or until we're safe at least.
The Forest and Southampton results today tell us that we have to stop worrying about what everyone else does, and just take care of our own business.
Wolves losing to Bournemouth - not sure how I feel about that. Keeps Wolves in it I suppose, but I'd rather have seen both Bournemouth and Southampton dead and buried early.
Goal if anyone wants it...
Re: Blues v Dirty Leeds
fucking insane goal by Seamus .. if anyone hasn't seen it yet ... do it ... do it NOW

The worst career decision since Moyes went to United. He's truly fucked himself there.
Like Moyes, he needs time to implement his own ways. He was never going to get that time at Chelsea, especially with them buying 10 new players every month.
It's a tough one, as these lads can't turn the opportunities down, and I suppose their high opinions of themselves and their methods is partly what gets them to their levels of success. But Potter to Chelsea was the football definition of "on a hiding to nothing."

Lol just realised that I totally contradicted myself with my second and third sentences above.
Fuck it. Don't care about Wolves and Bournemouth. We'll sort ourselves out. COYB.

Watching the goal again - shocking goalkeeping of course. But I wonder if Meslier is thinking to himself "it's Seamus fucking Coleman, nothing to worry about, I'll just gather up this aimless cross to nobody in particular on the 6 yard line and set us off on a quick counter."?
If I was watching that live, it would not have occurred to me in a million years that Seamus would bang it in from there.

yankthattoffee must have had a great view from the Bullens ... can't wait to see his description of it when he surfaces from the Spellow....Rotterdam 1985 wrote:Watching the goal again - shocking goalkeeping of course. "Some view" is not a phrase often used in relation to Bullens. "No view" or "restricted view" are more common.
The feeling after this result is very different to after the Arsenal win. That felt like we'd won a cup final, I was giddy for hours afterwards. We hadn't won for a while of course, and Arsenal are far better than Leeds. This feels more flinty-eyed, like "job done, on to the next one." This is what we have to do, just churn out 1-0s at home and see what we can pick up on the road.
Two home clean sheets back-to-back are really significant, considering how we had started to leak goals in Frank's last few games. We won't score many so this is key to our survival, being stingy at the back.
I'm not remotely certain we'll beat Villa, we generally struggle against them anyway and they were impressive for much of the Arsenal game today. But they've started to leak goals. If we can squeeze out three points from that one then I might just start to believe.
Re: Blues v Dirty Leeds
I doubt we'd have got 6 points from 3 games if Frank was still here. Grinding out results is what will keep us up, even without a proper striker.

I mean, really, what the fuck?? Astonishing game. We actually weren't too bad, mostly organised, and created a few chances, obviously without any chance of netting them. Then Seamus!!!!! Who needs strikers.
Shat ourselves for the rest of the game but somehow held on. Atmosphere amazing and that dreaded, evil thing called HOPE rears its bloody head again.
Oh well, out of the bottom 3 and can actually watch MOTD for a change. Fucking good day!!!!

And Simms was good when he same on. Better than I thought.
I only have MoTD to go on but that reverse ball to put Duke through, on its own, was encouraging. There may be something there. Most players sink when put in at a level above their ability. Occasionally, some will improve because of it, especially youngsters. Fingers crossed.
Re: Blues v Dirty Leeds
I was watching the game on a crappy Mexican TV channel where the picture was compressed at the top and bottom (very strange btw). Anyway, one could hear the crowd noise and how important that was for the players. Great stuff.callmebubbles wrote:I mean, really, what the fuck?? Astonishing game. Yeah it was only a cameo, but he definitely gave their defence something to worry about, and that ball to Duke was a beauty. It'll be interesting to see if Dyche starts him next time, or if he sees him as best off the bench.
My slight concern is that he looked like he picked up a strain at the end, he was clutching his leg, and when the whistle went, he sat down for a minute as if he'd played a hard 90 mins, not ten mins. We shall see.
