Gone out on loan to Preston for the rest of the season.
Thank Christ we have so many other options up front eh? Though, I must admit, I think he needs to go out on loan. Just maybe wait til next season.

I'm confused (as well). I'm all for fringe players getting playing time with another club if needed, but surely this means we have lined up a replacement.hairy cataract wrote:Gone out on loan to Preston for the rest of the season.

Where's Steve Watson when you need him?
Re: 47 - Tom Cannon - boom
This line would suggest that we can still recall Cannon if we want to... I must say I thought that was only possible in the transfer window
I guess it will depend on the seriousness of DCL's latest glass moment.
It seemed like they had one in Tom Cannon, who had hit a vein of unstoppable goalscoring form for the youth team before being sent out on loan to Preston North End last month.
To recall him and offer him some well-earned senior experience could be the answer to Everton’s transfer howler, which has left them light in a position of huge importance.

Re: 47 - Tom Cannon - boom
Took him a while to find his feet, but 8 goals in 20 games for PNE in the championship last season. Helpfully someone has compiled them all into one youtube clip (with a truly abysmal soundtrack). All I can say is, at 20 years old, he already looks a player. A range of finishes you'd want from a striker, mainly in the box, headers, tap-ins, one-on-ones, finding the corner. The goal against Blackpool is lovely, my favourite kind of goal, passed into the corner. Get him in the first team.
Here's the details if anyone's interested: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas-cannon/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/669366/wettbewerb/GB2/saison/2022

TAP-INS!!! Bring me tap-ins.
Yeah the Blackpool goal is lovely, but I like the second goal. Granted he wouldn't be allowed that much time and space in the Prem, but it's a goal that suggests he has composure. And the movement for the goal against QPR is nice.
I've watched loads of lower-league footy in the last few weeks, mostly play-offs, concluding with the 1st leg of the Bundesliga relegation play-off last night, Stuttgart versus an awful Hamburg team. Quite often, the build-up play in different divisions looks the same. It's the final ball that makes the qualitative difference. Either the shot or the cross or the final pass. I know this isn't new information that I've unearthed but I've just been reminded of it of late. So yeah, that's what I look for.
One other thing - have a look at Dyche's transfer activity while at Burnley. He rarely looked abroad, but took many a player from the lower leagues. He will have no issue promoting a player who's done well in the Championship, if he thinks he's good enough.
Re: 47 - Tom Cannon - boom
there seem to be a lot of reports that Sunderland are in for Cannon

I’ll be gutted/furious if we get rid of him before he’s even had a chance.
Re: 47 - Tom Cannon - boom

Everton 'want £1m loan fee' for Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Birmingham City, Stoke City and Preston North End-linked forward
The 20-year-old is said to have six Championship clubs keen on him, with Wednesday, Birmingham City, Stoke City, Sunderland and Cannon’s former club Preston North End reportedly among them.
It has been claimed Everton are prepared to send him out on loan this season but journalist Alan Nixon has reported on his Patreon page that the Toffees want to pocket a six-figure loan fee.
Cannon was among the Championship's most exciting young players last season, impressing after joining Preston on loan in January. He notched eight goals in 21 appearances, having previously only been given three outings at senior level by Everton.

If we’re sending him out we must be fairly confident of getting someone else in, no?
