Re: Bournemouth v Everton
The wingers and striker would be the concerns for me, but apart from that, it's probably our best team.

Re: Bournemouth v Everton
We should sign the ref, he's so shit he could play for Everton.
Other than that, thank fuck the Shite are beating Soton so we stay out of the bottom three. Incredible to think there are three teams worse than us.
Gray, Maupay, McNeil. Remember those three names, cos you'll need them for a pub quiz question. "Name the worse front three in the history of Everton FC".

I'm not sure how it would help, with the shit we have in the squad, but I think Lampard might be in trouble here.
Re: Bournemouth v Everton
I know we're shit but it feels like we've just downed tools in the last few weeks too. Odd.
Thank fuck there's a World Cup.

Dyche was in the news this week showing interest... he's got a good WC break to sort it out.hairy cataract wrote:I'm not sure how it would help, with the shit we have in the squad, but I think Lampard might be in trouble here. Â

Iwobi threw his shirt to a fan, and he threw it straight back according to the commentator!
Re: Bournemouth v Everton
I take back my previous, measured take. We look like a team in trouble. Hard to reconcile some of our solid performances with that, but my days it’s looking grim right now.

Yeah we're in serious shit. After the Leicester loss I thought this would be a game of enhanced significance, given it was the last game before the WC against a relegation rival. The piss-poor midweek effort enhanced that significance, and now we've been spanked by said relegation rival twice in four days.
I'm just glad we picked up some points when we did and, as I've said a few times recently, just about kept our nose above the water line. It's now clear, beyond reasonable doubt, that we've got to sign some attacking players in January otherwise we're fucked. Calvert-Lewin is made out of balsa wood and everyone else is shite.
Leicester wasn't a great yardstick because they're a pretty good team. Bournemouth are not, but they're comfortably better than us. Sobering.

I hate to sound like a Lampard-basher here, but Tom Cannon was a billion percent better than Maupay when he came on. Lampard is following a familiar pattern in our managers of playing the same faces every game regardless of their contribution. The only one he's dropped is Gordon - who, ironically, came on and a put a lovely cross in for Cannon.
Up til that point, we'd been looping balls into the tiny weeny Maupay all game, like we did last time. Who's idea was that? Also, Onana disappears for large parts of the game, despite clearly having loads of talent. By this point, Lampard should have been giving him very loud advice about what was expected of him. Or should have dropped him for Garner (who I assume was injured this week).
It is indeed a fucking shit-show. Comfortably as bad as last season, but with an improved central defence and a vastly depleted front line.
Re: Bournemouth v Everton
I'm so glad I turned off the game after the 2-0 goal. Probably the first time in I can't recall how long I turned off an Everton game. It might even have been a first.
My misery got worse though as I took the car out and it wouldn't run any further than about 20 feet when it died.
Great start to the weekend indeed.

Re: Bournemouth v Everton
It should be pointed out that in the last 6 league games we have failed to score in 5 of them. It's difficult to rack up points and move up the table when not scoring...

This is the bottom line, really. Early season goals last year came courtesy of Gray, Townsend and Dom. Late season courtesy of Richarlison. We’ve lost three of them for various reasons and Gray’s confidence looks shot. We need a new forward line in Jan that will settle in quickly, ideally Jelavic and super Kev. Every other team in the division can score goals, we look comfortably the most toothless (least toothed?) at the moment.
