Re: Wolves v Everton
Whether inside the box or out, that Holgate tackle was predictable two seconds before it happened. He can't help himself. Fuck him off, he is indeed a liability.
Re: Wolves v Everton
OMG Holgate... needs to be sold.. or released on a free transfer

Dreadful first half. Good tactical switches at halftime and a bit of fight in the second half.

Yeah, a bit of fight after half time. How often have we said that in the last 10, 20 years though?
Sorry, but I've played a bit and I've coached a bit. I've played after dashing to the ground straight from work and I've played with some banging hangovers. And I'll never understand how a team of professional footballers can be that bad before half time and suddenly discover some fight in the second half. That's shithousery for you, right there. I'm sure it's not only us that does that. But why? Why does it happen so often? And this seems to be regardless of who's in charge.

I was surprised what Delph offered.Armchair wrote:Dreadful first half. Good tactical switches at halftime and a bit of fight in the second half.
A different team second half, begging a few questions.
There was purpose and commitment.
I can't see RB trusting 25 again.

From the arguing you could see in the first half, some players didn't know their assignment.Rotterdam 1985 wrote:Armchair wrote:Dreadful first half. Good tactical switches at halftime and a bit of fight in the second half.

We've picked on Gbamin, rightly, but he was letting everything go past him. Completely unaware of his surroundings. You can't carry anyone in this league.
Sheamus, Allen and Townsend clearly didn't trust him. The second half line-up would have served us better, had it started that way.
I don't think was shithousery, just lack of awareness in vital areas.

Re: Wolves v Everton
I’m sure Allan told Benitez get Gbamin off, should told him get Iwobie off playing Gbamin and Awobie left us 9 men v 11.
Soon as Delph came on for Gbamin midfield sorted but why Benitez didn’t change Awobie for Gordon I don’t know game changed when Gordon came on to be fair Delph had a decent game, when all fit again Holdgate and Godfrey left on bench both a liability .

Re: Wolves v Everton
Not the abject humiliation it looked like being, but I’m sure that will come in the derby.
You wonder whether what goes on in training confuses even an experienced manager like Rafa. I mean, Gbamin must have looked ok in the week, but in a real life match day situation he was jaw droppingly poor. And as Yank said, it clearly unsettled the rest of the team.

I'm going to cling on to that little bit of spirit we showed in the second half today, for a little while (until about 3 minutes into the Spurs game to be precise.) But look at the fixtures we've got coming up. And here we are, grateful that Wolves didn't spank us.
I ain't just saying it to be dramatic, I'm seriously concerned about this season and unless we pull some shock results off somewhere then we'll be in a relegation battle by Christmas. Then Newcastle will sign Mbappe, de Bruyne and Salah in January and start climbing the table. Knowing our luck, Neymar will issue a come and get me plea to Norwich "I've always wanted to play in the EPL. Also, I love Alan Partridge." Oh yes, I can see how all of this will play out.
Still, I sort of miss our final day relegation dramas. At least it all meant something, and we had the excuse to go out and get pissed after. There ain't much tension, not much to celebrate, when finishing 8th 15 years in a row.
Bring it on. You hear me Sean Dyche? We ain't down yet....
(...but we're working on it.)
Re: Wolves v Everton
The fight-back on the pitch was nice BUT I was so pissed that no one came to assist Gordon when he was being shoved in the chest twice by Dondecker towards the end of the game! He clearly realized that he was 6 inches taller and some 40 pounds heavier than Gordon and saw it as an opportunity to go after the smaller dude, like a bully. No one stood up for Gordon - very disappointing! Godfrey and Holgate, to name just two, should have gone over there and get in Dondecker's face.
Have I mentioned how much I hate backpasses btw?

Scariest thing about the backpass wasn't what Godfrey did, although that was really bad. It was the total lack of urgency and awareness from Holgate, who didn't seem to realise that it was going to be short, and that Jiminez was 3 yards away from him and on the move.
Re: Wolves v Everton
This isn't the Holgate that got into some rough and tumble a couple of years back at Anfield. Even when he blasts a good chance over the bar, the look is of indifference. Like he's had the fire coached out of him. As for Gbamin, it looks like another £25m spunked out for nothing. Complete unawareness of his surroundings. After 10 minutes I just looked out for what he was doing. Like a sleep walk, always looking forward and nowhere else. I wonder what his heat-map would look like, just a 5 yard dimeter circle in the old Right Back position. With so many of our signings, did anyone actually go and see him play before we got turned over?Rotterdam 1985 wrote:Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:The fight-back on the pitch was nice BUT I was so pissed that no one came to assist Gordon when he was being shoved in the chest twice by Dondecker towards the end of the game!
