Re: Everton v Aston Villa
HT, phew! We look good going forward but very shaky at the back. Pickford has kept us in it.

I'd be very happy to get to HT at 1-1
not good enough really & we need to improve in the 2nd half

HT, and Villa the better team.
Pickford has been great. Some very impressive saves.
I really like Holgate, but man, that mistake is simply very poor. If under pressure like that, just hoof the ball upfield. So what if we lose possession? The ball will be deep in the Villa half.
The midfield is way too slow. Allan looks like he's 50 based on his speed. Gomes and Iwobi will mix it up - great pass followed by "Uhhh, what exactly were you thinking there, mate?"
Richie must change his boots. Is he playing in wooden clogs or what's up with his touch?
DCL so isolated he probably thinks the rest of the team is trying to keep the ball away from him.

And we are too slow. Way too slow. Villa just seem to have a much greater urgency about their game.

Keep Allan in his usual role and the remaining 5 in rotation, if necessary.
Time to really show our stuff to prospective signings.
Go for 6th but dream of 4th.
...and our best back 4 is?....

Re: Everton v Aston Villa
We are clearly not better than a mid-table team and that's pretty much in line with the expectations before the season started.
Re: Everton v Aston Villa
It's just not fun to watch this team anymore. We are too slow, just no pace about the game of ours.
Villa clearly the better team. More drive about their game.

Re: Everton v Aston Villa
Hmmmm...we didn't play too badly but the better team won. Lots of pace and movement in the Villa team. At least we get another go at them.

Re: Everton v Aston Villa
And I got the away jersey in the mail this afternoon. We have done a lot better on the road, so it made sense.
We have won 1 of the last 10 home games now btw.

Re: Everton v Aston Villa
No excuses. Good game, but at no stage were we better than them. Credit to Villa, they were good, Watkins especially was outstanding.
Everything in which we need to improve was laid bare tonight - not enough pace, not enough quality on the ball, not enough speed of thought. Villa were comfortably superior in all three areas. We've covered up a lot of our deficiencies this season by being solid at the back and by taking a decent proportion of our chances. Tonight, as against Spurs, we were poor in these two areas of relative strength.
Pickford was excellent, DCL good, Coleman and Godfrey decent. Everyone else was OK at best. That's the worst game I've seen Allan have for us.
Hey ho. Everton's 2020-21 season - up and down like the Assyrian Empire.

Re: Everton v Aston Villa
Fuck me, I can't believe we're not in 15th or 16th, the way we've played this season. We've been abysmal in the games we've lost, and flukey in the games we've won. I just don't know how we can expect anything better next season with this group of players, under this manager. I love Carlo as a human being, and his record speaks for itself at the glamour clubs, but under his tenure our football, to me, has been turgid, cowardly, unimaginative, lacking in quality and personality, reactive, and insipid.
Other than that, brilliant lads, well done, carry on.

No... we have yet to play Villa and by the looks of it we will play sometime in May.... unless it is the Shoite's way of ensuring we don't finish above them
Ah ok, thanks.
