I'm just really excited over the fact that we have signed midfielders and they appear to be class players, at least based on what I have read. The midfield was such a shit-show last season, I'm glad to see Ancelotti addressing a clear area of need.

A highlight video from last season. Looks like a nice central midfielder with defensive duties. Might be a bit one-footed, but I am hoping this is the player we have been needing to shore up the midfield and allow the Allan/Rodriguez/Gomes partnership to create opportunities for Richie/DCL.

No he's not, latest report suggests Abdoulaye Deucoure will return sooner rather than later ,estimated time 4/4 half weeks according to the Fabrizio reporter. cheers

What medical staff? I thought Rafa replaced them all with his own people, who then all left when Rafa went, meaning that Doris the tea lady had to do an emergency CPR course and Big Dunc is currently performing all invasive surgery in a four-man tent pitched up in the Fan Zone, using copious amounts of Buckfast as anaesthetic.

Everton are planning to activate the option to extend Abdoulaye Doucoure’s contract by a further year to keep him at the club until 2024. His contract is currently set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season. (Source: @ElBobble)

Everton have triggered a one-year option to keep midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure at the club until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

The 30-year-old was out of contract this summer but the Toffees have exercised the choice of a further year.

Doucoure has made 94 appearances and scored nine goals since joining from Watford for £20m in 2020.

The Mali international will be aiming to help Everton remain in the Premier League in Sunday's final game.

Sean Dyche's side are currently two points above the relegation zone and host Bournemouth at Goodison Park.

Doucoure fell out of favour under former manager Frank Lampard but has played an integral role under Dyche, netting four goals in his last nine games.

He told BBC Sport in March: "I always wanted to be in the Premier League and I want to stay much longer here. It is the best league for Muslims to be in."
