Both of those statements make me happy.

I read this the other day but figured it was bullshit. I'll pretty much give up if that goes through.

Everton midfielder Allan has opened talks to join Al-Wahda before the UAE's 4 October deadline. - The 31-year-old has been given the green light to leave Goodison Park two years after joining from Napoli for £21m.

This one remains a bit of a mystery to me. Doesn't matter now as we have Gueye back, but Allan was always fairly decent if not a world-beater, and never appeared to down tools the way, say, Schneiderlin did. Maybe he freelanced a bit, went walkies from his position from time to time. Something that actual match-goers would be in a better position to confirm.
We don't know what goes on at the training ground but Lamps clearly never fancied him. Ah well, get him off the books, and we move on.

aye ... some rumours also that Rondon is off to UAE as well ... that makes more sense to me !Rotterdam 1985 wrote:Made 4 Gwladys wrote:Everton midfielder Allan has opened talks to join Al-Wahda before the UAE's 4 October deadline. - The 31-year-old has been given the green light to leave Goodison Park two years after joining from Napoli for £21m.

Agree largely, but having been signed under Carlo he will be on insane wages, so with Onana and Gueye, I think we can let him go. Won't be too upset if he stays.

Yeah he almost certainly wasn't as good as the wages he will have been on, but nevertheless he was our player, and with us during a desperate relegation scrap, yet Frank hardly used him and generally preferred Davies. Now I'm not quite as low on Davies as many Blues are, but I always felt we looked more solid with Allan than with Tom.
I'm not saying Lampard was wrong - given what he was as a player, he might just know a thing or two more about midfield balance than me. I'm just saying it's something I can't really fathom myself. A reminder that we don't see what happens during the week on the training ground, and we don't really know what goes on in any manager's head in terms of why he'd prefer player A to player B.
Re: 6 - Allan (Brazil nut)
I like Allan, he has a dogs of war mentality, especially when paired with the Duke ... Guessing Frank has Onana & Gana as the main pair now with Garner, Tom, Duke as the other mid option... +Holgate when fit.... so Allan is free to go (high wages presumably) .. he's also a good option to get some money still I suppose before he gets too old at 30+ and in the last throws of his contractRotterdam 1985 wrote:Tonteau wrote:Rotterdam 1985 wrote:Made 4 Gwladys wrote:Everton midfielder Allan has opened talks to join Al-Wahda before the UAE's 4 October deadline. - The 31-year-old has been given the green light to leave Goodison Park two years after joining from Napoli for £21m.

Re: 6 - Allan (Brazil nut)
Good luck Allan ... you worked hard for us IMO !!
Former Brazil midfielder Allan has left Everton to join Al-Wahda on a two-year deal, according to the United Arab Emirates club.
Allan, 31, joined Everton in a deal worth more than £21m in 2020 from Italian side Napoli.
He played 52 Premier League games in his first two seasons but has yet to make an appearance in 2022-23.
Frank Lampard has made several midfield signings, including Idrissa Gueye and Amadou Onana.
UAE Pro League side Al Wahda, who are based in Abu Dhabi, announced the signing on their Twitter feed - although Everton have yet to confirm the move.
Al Wahda are managed by former Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal, with ex-Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva among the squad.

Agreed, very good at what he does but not really mobile enough or good enough with the ball for what Lampard is trying to do. Still we need capable backup players, and he was certainly that.
Re: 6 - Allan (Brazil nut)
I'm guessing Gana is the 1st choice spoiler now and Duke more than adequate cover .... + Iwobi, Tom, Onana, Garner, Holgate when fit.Tonteau wrote:Armchair wrote:Bit surprised to see him go - I reckon he's a very good player.

1st choice mid = Onana / Iwobi + Gana / Duke ???
Lots of good midfield options there so does seem wise to sell a high earning 31 year old fringe player ??? / one eye on FFP !!

Re: 6 - Allan (Brazil nut)
I read somewhere (could be bollocks) that there is no actual fee involved - instead the UAE club paid up the balance of his contract with us. So that would be another £5m or so off the books, which if true would be another little helping hand ref FFP.
