27 - Idrissa Gana Gueye - Idris Elbows!!

Everton have met Idrissa Gana’s £7.1m release clause and hope to sign the Aston Villa midfielder.

A number of clubs have tracked the Senegal international this summer but the Toffees are the first to firm up their interest.

Gana has four years remaining on his contract but can leave if the right money is received up front.

A move back to the Premier League would appeal to the 26-year-old however other clubs are still likely to rival the Merseyside club.

Marseille were keen on taking him back to France although they cannot afford to meet the release clause at this stage.

Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo still needs to reduce the size of his squad ahead of the Championship season.

Surely he must be worth £30m like the rest of our targets?

From what I saw he was their best player last season. Could be good at that price. I don't get way he has a release clause for £7.1m if they signed him for £9m though. Could this be an example of why Villa are fucked.

This confirms my suspicions that Ronald is pretty happy with what he's got at his disposal, and merely wants to deepen the squad. I reckon we'll see a few signings like this and then maybe one or two headline grabbers on deadline day. This season is about consolidating and getting ready for the future.

i'll be happy with a few additions to steady us up and hopefully qualify for europe next season, then spend big

I agree, I don't think Luka will go, but losing him would weaken the squad a lot. Stones not so much, Funes Mori showed him up at times last season.
