Re: Chelsea v Everton
and, by the way:
Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has suggested he may have spoken to the referee, Mike Jones, and told him to play additional stoppage time after Everton went 3-2 up in the 90th minute.
Hiddink told Match of the Day: "There was seven minutes extra time... I said, 'Ref, okay, they are celebrating at least one minute in the corner.'"
He added: "I will not deny it - it was offside because Oscar touched the ball, even though John was technically perfect [with his finish]."

It's beyond luck or ref's decisions, it is just effin' ....oh feck ithairberto cataract wrote:Yankthattoffee wrote:Sutton is not much different to every other feckin' commentator. It's a centre forward's finish after a great gamble.
"Martinez, who I've just watched, is whinging."
Another lesson learned.
At least Robby didn't do a Klopp and get rolling bow going.
and btw the extra minute was for the Mori celebration a la Bournemouth. Another lesson learned.
Yeah, I'm less fucked off by the extra minute than I am by the fact it was miles offside, and the fact that YET AGAIN we've thrown it away after scoring so late in the game ourselves.

Don't really have an issue with that but it's the old consistency argument again.

Absolutely! The next time it's half time in a game and the score is 2-2, you watch there be no more than one minute time added on! What a sack of shit. Referee bowing down to the Sky teams again.

The media will just say that it's poetic justice after the Stones-Sterling incident.

If that is the case then it's even tougher... We get two draws.... 2 points... Whereas we could have lost one won one and got three... I fucking hate Jimmy Hill...
I am going to have words.... It cannot be an achievement if we can say we are hard to beat we score nearly 2 goals a game and still draw every fucking match. Jones has to be sacrificed - HE IS THE COACH. WE have Unsworth who could be better..he at least played at the level required....

Re: Chelsea v Everton
I just had a thought. Did the linesman think that an efc player headed it on to Terry?

We would be a CLEAR THIRD if this had not been the case.

Are style of play has to be questioned ? Great on attack-Shite on defence, this is not just a one game based problem, its been the story of our season.
we can't kill off teams,Its the Martinez/Wigan way.

The problem is we seem to change our style as soon as we go a goal or two up. We drop back and give the opposition space, but we shouldn't, we should carry on in the same style and press home our advantage.

Agreed
If the way we are playing gets us to 2-0 up - Carry on playing that way

Re: Chelsea v Everton
I think that's our problem. We go 2 goals up and keep playing open end to end football, at a time when the opposition start to push up, press and change their line up to a more attacking shape. We just keep playing as we always do, and concede time after time. The President wrote:SouthernSmugToffee wrote:sefton wrote:Armchair wrote:Not a happy man: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35335922

Re: Chelsea v Everton
as David Moyes said on MOTD... (straight after discussing when you get to 2 up against a team like Chelsea).. there are times when you need to just shut up shop & ensure you get the result.... Bobby is too naïve to do this effectively, he just has to attack, attack, attack... he knows no other way & frankly it reminds me of Keegan when he was Barcodes manager in the 90'sYankthattoffee wrote:I think that's our problem. Whilst not totally disagreeing - I felt yesterday we sat deeper after our second goal, inviting them on to us

The main thing is that at 2-0 up we should be keeping hold of the ball and playing that boring ticky tacky stuff for 10-15 minutes to tire out and demoralise the opposing team.

Re: Chelsea v Everton
it's so tough.. Moyes would have won that comfortably at 2 up... but Moyes would probably not have got to 2 up... it's a dilemma... if Bobby can learn to close out a win from a winning position we will be lethalArmchair wrote:The main thing is that at 2-0 up we should be keeping hold of the ball and playing that boring ticky tacky stuff for 10-15 minutes to tire out and demoralise the opposing team.
