THen again since we have had the 4 spots, have we ever had this level of turbulence going forward. City have just about had their annual dip and collywobbles. United have yet to have theirs (and they certainly will). Arsenal are vulnerable if injuries continue to hamper. I am discounting Leicester, they do not look like being a Nottingham Forest (nor do they really resemeble the quality of EFC turnaround from early 84 through to late 85....)
So in reality we have two solids a nearly there... but scrappable...and around 4/5 teamsscrapping for 1 or 2 places....the fight has hardly started but I do not see why we should not consider ourselves prt of it....

We seem to be coming into a good moment of form at this moment in time. 
We used to be a tricky tiki-tacki with Peinaar, Ossie, Baines, but now we are much more of a power team. Big Luke, Kone, Barclay, Macca, Foofoo. I feel like we're coming into our own now. When Baines returns, we're a threat everywhere, as long as we can defend. It may be interesting when Mori comes up against a tough attack.
So when David Cameron is talking about the northern powerhouse, he ain't talking about Aston Villa or West Ham baby!!

Apparently the average score for 4th place is 71 points (although, the way teams are taking points off one another that may be a bit lower this season). Anyway, our next six fixtures will take us up to the halfway point in the season and we will have played everyone once.

Lukaku sitting 4 goals off golden boot at the moment in 2nd place to Vardy who is on 13. I think this game should be a good opportunity for him to make up the deficit a bit!

RAWK, have this thread which always makes me smile its called the Alternative Premier League table..... and they use it and update it to show how reality can sometimes be ignored and that they are doing better than they actually are... that said there is a bit of science/statistical empiricism contained within it. Now over recent days there has been a bit of debate around how valid it is to use as a basis for predicting forwards etc...
There is a guy called Colin Trainnor who is not RAWK and he has published analysis (I think he does stuff for EPL and perhaps Opta) - that the most probable points total for 4th this season is 68. Looking at the chart (and if I reading it correctly) there is a 78% chance that the 4th position will be occupied by a team gaining somewhere between 65-71 points.
Even assuming that each third of a season is the same as the other two (it plainly isn't - just looking at our first third compared to the second confirms this error) that would imply anyone on 22-24 points now is best placed to achieve the fourth spot. That would imply a fight between Spuds/Leicester assuming that cannot sustain. We and 2/3 others are only a point outside that frame.
It would be interesting to see how coming weeks pan out. One key piece of info is that whilst us and the Shoite have had the toughest openings in terms of playing top sides.... the Shoite have played all their top matches away - whilst they have limits on capacity for ground due to the construction. Given their performances against City and Chelsea... that is perplexing...

He has been good though for us after last season when he was a bit shite to be fair.
