Chelsea haven't been at their best tonight, but they're still top class. Though "class" is not really a word I'd associate with Chelsea.

would be just like us to bottle it & go down just when the 17th placed team are about to get 800 million squillion quid just for showing up...

I'm confident Robbie can take us all the way to League 1

Post  Armchair Wed 11 Feb 2015, 9:56 pm

Everton boss Roberto Martinez told BT Sport: "The result is hard to take. You believe you'll get what you deserve - we didn't.

"It was a performance full of spirit. Defensively we were very good and we created the best chances. There were a couple of world-class saves from Petr Cech.

"The second yellow card for Gareth Barry is very harsh. It's an unfortunate goal to give away, the ball goes through a players' legs. But it allows us to carry on with a good level of performance.

"My players were really upset about that [Branislav Ivanovic incident in the late melee]. It's the reaction of the Chelsea players you don't like. Ivanovic grabs James McCarthy by the throat. You need a strong referee for those matters. You have to take your chances. You don't want to see the incidents we saw at the end.

"I was disappointed with the manner in which the referee dealt with it."

Post  Armchair Wed 11 Feb 2015, 9:58 pm

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: "It's beautiful to win in the last minute, and it's so sad to lose. They have to be very disappointed, they gave us a very difficult match. We are very very happy and we think we deserve it. We fought so hard to try and win the game.

"We risked a lot to try to win. It was a refereeing performance that in my opinion was very good. We had a goal which was fantastically well disallowed by the assistant referee. A great decision.

"Everton changed its DNA, they defend really well and made lots of fouls. What we can call intelligent fouls. But if the referee follows the rules it's yellow card, yellow card and they paid the price for that. This is not a criticism, but they foul, foul, foul.

"Did Branislav Ivanovic go in with his head? Don't make me laugh. Don't make me laugh."

He's such a cunt.

For once I mostly agree with Bobby.

Mourinho is a twat.

I have a suspicion that all the Premier League manager's are running a competition to see who can use the most amount of unnecessary superlatives interview this season.

I love Jose for his general twattiness. It's all an act for him, none of it is real. That's what puts him above the other tossers like Brenda and Bobby, who are genuinely out and out bellends. Bobby and Brenda take it all so seriously and just end up spouting cringe-worthy bollocks, which they believe makes then sounds like top managers. Which they clearly aren't. Can you imagine a proper big club ever giving Brenda a job? No fucking way.

I'd take Jose every day over B & B.

Jose Mourinho full of BS, plays up to the British media as he knows they love it, couldn't get away with it in Spain / Italy.

On the Bratislav Ivanovich incident ,Mourinho in denial threatens to walk out of press conference.

Its time Everton players wise up and bully the ref like other teams do, Where was Jags when McCarthy was being strangled/head butted ?

two questions ?

1) would Robles got to that Willan kick ?

2) If Barry didn't get sent off would we have conceded that late goal?

1. no
2. yes

Howard played really well. I actually think other goalies would have been beaten before he was. Barry getting sent off only impacted on the goal in that they had a free kick. Sure, maybe if we'd have had 11 players, one of them would have blocked Willan's shot, but i think that's clutching at straws. I don't think we can argue with the result, We were unlucky to lose but it was hardly a smash and grab, or a dodgy winner.

But yes, either the FA has to clamp down on Chelsea or, more likely, other clubs have to get wise and starting mobbing the ref at every opportunity. The only problem with that is refs won't be intimidated by a no-mark like, say, Coleman giving him stick, but a big international star like Costa is another matter. The refs seem to be intimidated by the star status as much as anything.

What frustrates me is the sheer inconsistency... looking at the BBC website there are photos of Ivanovic clutching McCarthy's throat... and the referee looking right at it. Now hnads raised to face is an automatic red card. Now the FA will review and other clubs benefit - not Everton - by Ivanovic's certain ban.

Now is the presence of Ivanovic after the incident and before ttheir goal of any impact, I would think the answer to that is probbaly yes.Once again we get the bum's rush...
