Great to see the fighting spirit in the team.
Good result. I didn't realise how good Man City actually are. They are fucking amazing.
I thought we were back to old selves today. Defence looked okay, Robles okay too. Good to see some long kicks rather than defensive pass it around etc. Surely Besic and McCarthy are going to run the midfield soon. Lakuka looked great, what a difference his goal has made to his confidence.
Naith goal was a double of Big Dunc v Man U in early 2005.
McGeady needs to go out on loan.

Considering the strength of the bench I thought City played very well.

Charlie Nicholas (on Sky) has just said that Everton were poor on set pieces today which he claimed is very unusual. Has he watched us this season?

Overall and considering our season - Well chuffed with that
the fact after they scored first and we didn't give in but still went at them was great
We rode our luck a bit but with a bit more luck we could have score a couple more

Still a lot to improve on but good to see some cohesion and fighting spirit. The two Lukaku chances were good but we need to get him through more. Still ball dwelling to much instead of going for it. McGeady and Barry aside though, I thought everyone looked better. Let's hope it's a kick start.

All about showing some sort of fight today and we did that. Well done Blues. Now dig yourselves out of this hole

Re: Everton vs Man City
Important point that one. In terms of points, we are in fact closer to the bottom three now than we were at the start of the day (just three points above) but in terms of places we are one place further away.
Next two league games (West Brom at home and Palace away) are massive. I hope they stick with this more direct approach for the remainder of the season. The improvement in Lukaku in particular is dramatic.

The sad thing is that even if we DOUBLED our points, we'd still be 5 points off the top and we'd the 3rd in the table.Barry Horne's Equaliser wrote:Important point that one. Re: Everton vs Man City
Only saw MOTD highlights but we did seem to be getting the ball in to Luka quicker, and in front of him, which clearly works better for him. On the other hand, still fannying around at the back - when will Bobby realise it ain't working?

He seemed fit and sharp though. Probably as good as any time this season. Always had a yard on Mangala. Needs to keep the energy up for next few games to push us up the table. The worry is that West Ham, Palace and Brom in our next 3 games will sit back, squeeze the space then take advantage of individual errors from our defense. Our only hope is that the result today will give us some swagger now and start pressing and creating chances ourselves. Id put the best team possible out against Hammers and try build the confidence up again.

Re: Everton vs Man City
The thing I liked about Nais's goal (not only the Dunc 2005 look-alike) was the celebration. No stoney faces as in previous weeks. Almost a pile on. Great that we stuck at it, and played Luke like he's supposed to be playing.
Some of the things you guys were seeing, I don't get. Barks is close to gash. Despite a couple of short decent through balls, he still runs with his shoe-laces tied together, no power runs, rarely chasing back, zero tackles, and that moment on the half way line when he controlled the ball between his feet and then just froze and was tackled. There is something seriously wrong here. Whether it's physical, mental or playing with an injury, something is afoot.
How can RM pick Greedy McGeady? It's just embarrassing at times. While Sam sits on his £80,000, no doubt waiting for a Milanese phone call.
Besic may be our only tackler. He made a few errors but usually tracked back and won it back. Despite his errors he's a midfield Cahill.
Play Nais in his best position and guess what...?
Jags needs a shrink.
and now we have the Tuesday blitz from Carroll and co. whoop de do.

Re: Everton vs Man City
I couldn't careless about the negativity, the game was all about fighting spirit and playing as a team , we did that regardless of what others may nit pick about, we are a team building confidence that was lacking for what ever reason, we were accused of lying down and letting teams roll over us, Against both West Span and City we have shown not to give up.
The Goodison faithful were right behind the team, this lifted the players to push forward and get a well deserved equaliser, over the coming weeks you will see a resurgent Everton climb the premiership ladder.

Yeah - I hope so. It was telling that we reverted to a more direct fashion. The crowd sounded like they were more behind the team, but this was because the team was giving the crowd something to get behind. All of a sudden, our uber-expensive striker is having an involvement in the games which is the most important thing. I hope we keep this approach for the remainder of the season. If we do, then we'll be fine. Saturday was about putting in grit and determination and, as it turned out, getting a good result against the current league champions.

agree .. .I hope the moaning period is over ... I hate to moan about the team I love, but I will if I need to to get it off my chest... we were so much better against Citeh... despite their pressures we had a good goal (IMO) disallowed & a stonewall peno on Jags not given (IMO) & they had an offside goal allowed (fact)Barry Horne's Equaliser wrote:Sefton wrote:I couldn't careless about the negativity, the game was all about fighting spirit and playing as a team , we did that regardless of what others may nit pick about, we are a team building confidence that was lacking for what ever reason, we were accused of lying down and letting teams roll over us, Against both West Span and City we have shown not to give up.

I've been in a bit of a strop with our lot recently, but the fire in the belly of the team is back. We got back to using players in the best spot. Nais at 10, Luke playing like a man possessed. Utter chaos in their defense when he started to maraud.Made 4 Gwladys wrote:agree .. .I hope the moaning period is over ... Having said that, what's your opinion of Barkley? He scores his only goal and it's the goal of the month on MOTD, but we see that surging run very rarely now. What is afoot? He looks bemused so often.
Under what conditions does RM use Eto'o? Why does number 7 start instead of 11?
We're getting there but only just in time.
