Gerard Deulofeu
Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are leading the race for Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu, according to El Mundo Deportivo.
The 19-year-old, considered one of Barca B's most precocious talents, is keen to continue his progression in England and is looking increasingly likely to spend next season on loan.
Barca are unwilling to sanction a permanent transfer but are keen for Deulofeu, who is currently with the Spain squad at the Under-20 World Cup, to gain first-team experience.
With Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Martinez both admirers of the Barcelona brand of football, Mundo Deportivo believes Spurs and Everton are the frontrunners for his signature.
Deulofeu's agent, Gines Carvajal, has been in England this week finalising the transfer of another former Barca youth-teamer, Marc Muniesa, to Stoke City, and it is reported he may have held meetings with other Premier League clubs to discuss Deulofeu during his visit.
The winger made 33 appearances for Barca B in the second tier last season and scored 18 goals.

Word is that we've got this lad on loan for a season. He's highly rated.

Unless he played for Wigan I don't want to hear it.

He's a next big thing coming from Barcelona What a waste of time, we should be going for De Santo.

Agreed. He's no McManaman.

Watched him a bit in the U20 world cup. Not massively impressed but he is rapid as feck.

Hahah. Great minds, etc.
Re: 10. Gerard Deulofeu (hailed the new Ronaldo)
18 goals last season. Most seem to be due to truly abysmal goalkeeping.

yup, looks like a great loan signing, but that video could be from the schoolboy league. I'm not sure he's good enough yet to get a game, but it sounds like Martinez must have agreed to give him first team time .
Re: 10. Gerard Deulofeu (hailed the new Ronaldo)
Not too excited by this one - its only a loan and with a €35m buy out clause even if he's the new messi (which he's not) we'll never be able to afford to buy him, so he's just going to stop one of the other young lads development, so I'd rather see us bring our own kids on. No wonder no-one else wanted him, he'll never make it anyway, he's got Wigan player written all over him.... er...does permanent marker come off your PC screen easily?

More, more!!
Sounds like Roberto might have decent Spanish contacts. Any chance of Xavi on loan as well?

Hope he scores 18 abysmal goals for us next season. ( That´ll be 17 more than Nais anyway - and that´ll probably be an oggie )

Sid Lowe seems impressed by the signing and also suggests Martinez has good reputation in the Spanish market. Sounds good.
