Wasn't he on loan from Atletico Madrid or someone?

Whilst I am generally positive about Martinez, I get just the slightest sinking feeling when he signs a Wigan defender and a Wigan goalie, bearing in mind how fucking shit they are at the back. It's a bit like going to the former staff on Jim'll Fix It for a child-minder.

To be fair Wigan missed Alcaraz, best part of the season through injury, just heard he's signed a 2 year deal.

Neville, Mucha and Hitzlsberger out, Robles, Alcaraz and Kone in for about £6-£7m. Ok so far but would imagine we wont be signing anymore Wigan players! Essentially we have bought some squad or cover players so far, to buff out a thin squad. Makes sense that Martinez would do this with players he knows and rates. Robles was excellent in FA Cup final. Would imagine anymore signings would be earmarked to make a difference on the first team but this might depend on whether Felly or Baines move on. No panic yet. Just some sensible squad building and most importantly EARLY!. I would be move worried if these three arrived on deadline day.

Stay Calm and Come On Wigan.

Quite happy about this one. Good, young keeper as backup for Howard before challenging next season.

Yes, not harm done for £2m. It sounds like he might be decent having played for Spain's U21s.

6 clean sheets in 14 games for a side that got relegated isn't to be sniffed at either. We also couldn't get past him when Wigan beat us in the FA Cup. I think he will be a good addition.

Made about 4 very good saves in the FA cup final, too. Plus howard needs a kick up the arse.

Is he shit or was it just just nerves in his first game.

Never saw him play for Wigan, so can't say I was over impressed with him.

RM obviously thinks Robles is the replacement for Howard?
