A bit of Handy work from Bryan. really pleased for the lad to come in and keep two clean sheets, whilst scoring two very important goals.Statman wrote:Is that Oviedo or Ronnie Goodlass?Super wrote:

Re: 8. Bryan Oviedo (Baby!)
Double leg break! The worst injury a footballer can get. Feel gutted for him as he now not only misses the rest of season but most likely his only ever chance of playing in a World Cup!
He had come into the team and surprised a lot of people. Wishing him a fast recovery!
As for the team - we need to add a couple of new faces now or the consequences will be there for all to see. Our squad is looking seriously depleted now - we're down to the likes of Gueye!

Roberto Martinez has explained the full extent of Bryan Oviedo's leg break.
Speaking after the 4-0 win over Stevenage, the Spaniard revealed that the Costa Rican has been taken to hospital and will have surgery on a double fracture of the left leg.
"The injury to Bryan was very unfortunate," he said. "It wasn't malicious, Bryan is trying to win the ball back and unfortunately has come away with a double fracture, a break in both the tibia and fibula.
"We are going to assess now what is the next step for Bryan. It is one of those moments that really gives you a bad taste.
"After the injury, the players had to refocus because Bryan is a nice human being and an incredible professional. When something like this happens it gives you a really bad feeling."
The injury comes as a blow to the Costa Rican who was enjoying a run in the Everton first-team.
"If you are going to pick up an injury like this, at least this season has been Bryan Oviedo's season," added Martinez.
"With his level, he has shown the quality that he has and the player that he can be.
"You feel terribly sad for him because it is a great moment in his career, with the World Cup around the corner.
"All we want is Bryan recovered as quick as we can so that he comes back as important as he has been for the squad.
"Our medical department had the final decision on whether he needed surgery and obviously that is the most important next step.
"We will find out more over the next 24 hours."

Obsolutely guuted for the man. The new boss had given him a chance, his Everton career was just getted started and he was proving just how good he is. To miss a World Cup in South America must be heart breaking for him.

What a man! I know it's been said before, but absolutely gutted for him.
http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2014/01/27/bryan-s-brazil-hope
The integrity he showed as he was being carried off the pitch - telling the other players to make sure they won the game - is just an example of the player he is. Then when he got into the dressing room, the reality kicked in and it has been difficult.

So, if you are a real optimist I guess it's possible to make it with the first world cup on 12 June ....
realistically though... no chance I'm afraid

You've gotta have heart
All you really need is heart
When the odds are sayin' you'll never win
That's when the grin should start
You've gotta have hope
Mustn't sit around and mope
Nothin's half as bad as it may appear
Wait'll next year and hope
When your luck is battin' zero
Get your chin up off the floor
Mister you can be a hero
You can open any door, there's nothin' to it but to do it
You've gotta have heart
Miles 'n miles n' miles of heart
Oh, it's fine to be a genius of course
But keep that old horse
Before the cart
First you've gotta have heart

Saw that on twitter earlier. Unbelievable, should be hobbling about on crutches for ages, shouldn't he?

Re: 8. Bryan Oviedo (Baby!)
Oviedo is hopeful of making a full recovery by June so that he can fulfil his dream of representing his country at the World Cup Finals in Brazil.
I really hope he does.
