I'm wondering if Sam has a point. Luke couldn't get near the first team under Koeman, Bobby or Sam so perhaps he's one of those who won't make it. That's not to say that those three managers are the best judges of players' abilities though...

Of course we could be using the last few games of the season to be playing these squaddies to see if they are any good or not. Or we could play the same team every week and learn nothing Smile

Gone to Oxford on loan. I'm actually pretty annoyed about this. He looked the business when he stepped in for Baines all those seasons ago and now he's permanently on loan.

If he's good enough, we need a left back... keep him and play him. If he's not up to it, sell him and don't just keep loaning him out.

Ok there are number of assumptions..

He is not good enough compared to the role they now need - a permanent replacement for Baines. He is under contract and if there were clubs willing to pay the price Everton are asking/will require then perhaps he would move. But there are no clubs coming in for him. We as a result have a fit player who we can sell but are paying a decent salary (even £7,500 a week equates to more than £350k) - so if we can continue to see if he can develop (still young) and have someone play him every week we can make a judgement. As we continue to develop more and more youth - this will become the way of things going forward.

Hmmm, I think you've spolit a good moan with logic and sense there. Is that allowed?

On loan at Ipswich this season. Scored the only goal in their 1-0 win against Burton at the weekend.

26 already? Shocked It doesn't look like he is going to make it (although we might been LB cover if Digne's injury on Sunday is long term).

He's about to be released by the club. Unfortunate, I was hoping he would become a regular.

He's been with us for 11 years Shocked He looked decent when he filled in for Baines years ago but I guess he hasn't done that well while on loan as he can't command a transfer fee.

Alistair Magowan

BBC Sport

There was a slightly awkward moment in the news conference, when I asked Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti why he had let full-back Luke Garbutt leave the club and he replied: "Who?"

In fairness, although Garbutt has been at the club for 11 years, he has also been on loan at Ipswich since Ancelotti took over in December, and elsewhere for a large part of his Everton career.

So you can't blame the Italian, when he said: "Sorry, I'm surprised by this question. I don't know."

One for director of football Marcel Brands, perhaps.
