Everton 1 Chelsea 2 (Saha) - Carling Cup (AET)
Everton entertain a wounded Chelsea side in what is a repeat of last seasons 4th round FA cup tie (albeit a different competition).
Last season Saha opened the scoring for us but Kalou equalised to take it through to a replay at stanford bridge, which we won after penalties after a late baines equaliser - and I reckon the scores (and maybe the scorers) will be the same again.
Everton took a bit of a mauling recently from Chelsea in the league, but after Chelsea had two sent off and a load on yellow cards at QPR, we should expect to see large parts of their reserve team in midweek - however they will be taking this seriously as their defeat on Sunday means they are desparately looking for alternative trophies now they are out of the title race (effecitvely).
Chelsea have got a tough game against Arsenal after this and then a relatively easy tie against Genk following that, so they may use the carling cup to give Torres an outing as he missed out on QPR, so expect to see Jagielkas back pocket bulging, but i think we'll also see kalou in there, probably as a striker with Anleka rested (and Drogba being too old for too many games and suspended).
Everton on the other hand have just had a moral boosting win at bogey away side Fulham. We were a bit poor at the back, and while Chelsea have got better marksmen than Fulham, they didn't show it at Loftus road, so we stand a good chance of stealing this if we give them a hard game as their mind will be elsewhere (Prem / Champions League).
Everton will see the Carling Cup as a winnable trophy, but Moyes as ever will want to focus on survival in the prem, so we will see a bit of squad rotation and maybe even some of the youngsters on the bench. If fit we will probably see Saha in the second half with Velios continuing his development with another start. Either way, the victory at craven cottage should instill some belief in the players and whoever plays will be up for this game.
This is a winnable one for Everton, but Chelsea will be stuborn so I expect another 1-1 draw - do I get points for predicting the goal scorers? If so, Saha and Kalou again.
And here is this weeks inspirational "poem"
Remember folks back in '66
We won the cup with Catterick
Kendall's boys in '84
Then big Joe Royle came back for more
The sprit's stronger in the blues today
gonna play the Everton way
The Goldern Vision, Dixie Dean
The school of science, by far the greatest team
We'll win the cup again
Everton in hall of fame
Glory days are here to stay
Davy Moyes' blue army are coming down Wembley way
......Altogether now, Altogether now, Altogether now, For Everton (who got it before this bit?)
Anyway 1-1, Saha 79th minute, top right hand corner - COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!!!

I presume it goes to penalties not a replay.
4-3 on penalties.
4-3 on penalties.

It will be an interesting one tonight and I wouldn't like to pick a winner without seeing the starting line ups. Does Moyes bring in players like Heitinga and Bily or does he try and build momentum after the Fulham game? Personally I would go with a similar side to the one that played Fulham but maybe drop Osman for Barkley or Gueye.

good point! yes it is just a single match, so ET and penos - so my result was obviously after normal time, so I'm going with 4 - 3 to Everton as well,

Re: Everton 1 Chelsea 2 (Saha) - Carling Cup (AET)
I would expect Cahill and Saha to come in, from the start having not started at the weekend.
Cahill has a good record against Chelsea too.
Re: Everton 1 Chelsea 2 (Saha) - Carling Cup (AET)
I would like to see us go at them from the KO.
Saha, Drenthe & Distin to make a point of shaking hands with Terry, with a cold stare.
Just unhinge the trumped up piece of trash.
While their Full Backs figure out what the hell is going on, hit them with Drenthe and Coleman.
COYBs.
Hit 'em early and often.

Terry not in the Chelsea squad for tonight's game. They say it is because he is on 4 yellows so don't want to risk him being suspended for the Arsenal game at the weekend. I say it is because he is a big racist bastard.
