Lawro predicts.....
Everton v Aston Villa
These are two sides in a similar state of flux at the minute.
Mikel Arteta's sale was a good one from Everton's point of view; he didn't want to be there and in selling him and a couple of others, the club probably cut their debt by a quarter, which is important.
And it also allowed David Moyes to bring a couple in, too. We know all about Royston Drenthe and if Moyes can get him working we know he has ability, no question. As for the centre forward they've bought whose name I can't pronounce [Denis Stracqualursi] - I don't expect he will struggle with the physicality of the Premier League at all given he has come from the tough South American leagues - it's just about whether he has the talent.
Aston Villa, like Everton, are cutting their cloth, looking to lower the wage bill and bring money in and so on.
But they, like the Toffees, still have good players are the club and that's important.
Still, with home advantage on Saturday and on the back of a morale-boosting win at Blackburn last time out, I'm tipping Everton here.
Prediction: 2-1

From the OS:
Everton manager David Moyes has indicated Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman and Magaye Gueye should all be fit to face Aston Villa at Goodison Park on Saturday
Big, big bonus if we have those three fit. Especially Baines obviously. Nice to see Coleman back, thought he would be out until Christmas.

I know its not a team for tomorrow, plus lots of its and buts, bedding in, player development but the team below could potentially be a potent outfit. Fellaini & Rodwell sweeping up but able to take and distribute the ball from the back four. Coleman and Baines bombing forward to provide the width, Magaye, Drenthe and Barkley buzzing around in behind the defence and the biggest If, Denis able to hold up the play to bring the midfielders into dangerous positions. Certainly looks pacey but probably more CM pie-in the sky then reality.

I've never really rated the "V" twins to be honest. They think they are the next Charlton's but they are mistaken!
I actually like the look of that line up (as long as Denis and Roystone turn out to be ok). Plenty of pace and energy (with Jags, Distin and Howard offering experience at the back). Not a chance that Moyes would drop Neville though even though he hasn't been great so far this season.

Wasnt sure if the 'V' twins would be ready but no harm throwing them in there..

My worry is I dont think Moyes knows he's best midfield set up and going to spend the next few weeks experimenting. Hopefully the results wont go against us.

So, there'll be a riot before the whistle and at the final whistle when Hibbo scores a 40 yard screamer in the 11th minute of injury time.

Re: Everton 2 Aston Villa 2 (Osman, Baines (pen.))
I don't know why, but I am quite excited by today's match.
I am looking forward to seeing Drenthe who I think could make an impact on our side. We have been crying out for pace in the side for ages and he offers this. He also has very good close control which makes is hard for defenders to take the ball from him without fouling him. Hopefully we will see a rise in penos and freekicks which Bainesey will be putting away.
I know very little about Stracquewhatsit but he will offer something new upfront. Saha is always injured, Anichebe is shite, Yakubu wasn't interested and Beckford wasn't up to it so I am willing to give him a chance.
COYB!!!

Reading between the lines, I think Moyes is going to play it safe today packing the midfield and possibly starting Cahill up front alone. Could see Villa with alot of the possession early on which might put the fans on edge. Loosen the shackles Moyes.

Time to change these statsEVERTON v ASTON VILLA (1500 BST)
Arindam Rej reports: "Everton's transfer window activity hasn't gone down well. A pre-match fans' protest will urge Bill Kenwright and his board to go. Villa have stuck to a tight budget too, but their squad has been strengthened and they roll into town feeling confident. They love the sight of Everton, having gone 10 games unbeaten against them in the Premier League. Everton haven't even managed a clean sheet in their last 15 matches with Villa."

Hoof ball to Cahill from Hibbert and Jags.
Can't the full backs and wingers interacting well due to lack of play time.
Heskey to get booed.
Bily to be subbed for Drenthe.
When Drenthe and Strac come on the crowd to get excited.
