Not sure what his issue is with going out on loan. Makes no sense taking a chance. Hell, just look at our number one striker this season - he's a loanee!Tonteau wrote:http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/roberto-martinez-says-apostolos-vellios-6298620

It's not clear from that as to whether he has turned down another loan chance or whether Martinez is just referring to last season. Hopefully someone can talk some sense into him either way.Made FooFoo Gwladys wrote:stupid decision by him ... he should sit down with Barks & have a chat ... Pecking order of strikers at GP:
Lukaku
Jelli
Kone
Vellios
So he is third in the pecking order and only a couple of injuries away from being our number one, so may be a good decision by him to stay put? (although I concede that he seems to have refused previous loan offers when we had more options up front).

We'll play Mirallas/Nais and probably Chris Long up front before we play Vellios. He hasn't even been playing for the stiffs.Armchair Evertonian wrote:Pecking order of strikers at GP:

Re: 27: Apostolos Vellios - Adonis in Blue
Agree. Vellios is about #8 in that list of strikers. Hibbert might even get a go ahead of him.Tonteau wrote:We'll play Mirallas/Nais and probably Chris Long up front before we play Vellios. He hasn't even been playing for the stiffs.Armchair Evertonian wrote:Pecking order of strikers at GP:

Saw him play for the U21 team V City last week and I dont think he broke sweat.
Loan?
Not helping himself.
I think there was an offer from Sheff Wed last summer too.
He should be busting his gut to get into the first team, he isn't.
Sorry just saw this. Rather not say if that's ok Tonts?

No worries. Nice gig, though. Interesting work.

Seems like a good thing to (finally) do. He needs games, not more money sitting on the bench.Made FooFoo Gwladys wrote:about bloody time he got off his arse tbh... wasting his opportunity in life as a footballerSuper wrote:Joined Blackpool in loan until the end of the season apparently.

Good news. I think he's got plenty of ability so hopefully he can score a few for 'Pool.

It didn't look to good for him when he wasn't getting anytime on the pitch despite our stretched forward line over Christmas.
I always thought that he was a decent player. He can try and prove himself out on loan; it didn't do Osman, Coleman or Barkley any harm.

Re: 27: Apostolos Vellios - Adonis in Blue
Apostolos Vellios has been recalled from his loan spell with Blackpool. The Greek striker joined the Seasiders in late March on a deal originally due to run until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old made two appearances in his month with the Championship side, starting games against Queens Park Rangers and Yeovil Town.

Recalled? It's not like we'll be using him in the remaining two games of the season. Mind you, he obviously didn't make much of an impression at Blackpool.

I guess Roberto wants to check him over to see if he thinks he's good enough. If not, we'll sell him this summer.
Re: 27: Apostolos Vellios - Adonis in Blue
This is his big chance with the new boss. Big Luke hasn't impressed that much recently, Time for the Big Greek. Re: 27: Apostolos Vellios - Adonis in Blue
Let's face it, the only reason he is back is because Blackpool didn't like his attitude, there is no other reason he has been returned to us. Blackpool are still not mathematically safe from relegation so why would they send a "premiership" striker back?Yankthattoffee wrote:This is his big chance with the new boss. So it wasn't us asking for him back then?Sack the Juggler wrote:Let's face it, the only reason he is back is because Blackpool didn't like his attitude, there is no other reason he has been returned to us. Re: 27: Apostolos Vellios - Adonis in Blue
don't know but given that we have stuck with Lukaku, Naismith, and Mirallas and Deulefeu as strikers all season without using him, why would we ask for him back now? He's played one and a half games for them (substituted and never played again) and scored no goalsYankthattoffee wrote:So it wasn't us asking for him back then?Sack the Juggler wrote:Let's face it, the only reason he is back is because Blackpool didn't like his attitude, there is no other reason he has been returned to us. Had high hopes for him, but I think he is out of contract in the summer, or maybe in January(?) and it doesn't look like he is good enough or willing enough to be a footballer.
