John Bishop - how the fuck has the only unfunny scouser ever born made it as a comedian? I watched him for ten minutes on that Live At The Apollo and I was still waiting for him to say something funny while the credits were rolling at the end. He's the pub bore who doesn't have any gags. He reminds me of Stan Boardman without the Geeerman gag about bombing our chippy. Cheeky grins just aren't enough mate. Other than that, he's great like.

Manchester City have confirmed that Monday's Premier League game against Everton at 2000 GMT will go ahead despite the current bad weather.

A win for City would result in them being top of the table at Christmas for the first time since 1929.

Temperatures dropped to -15C in Manchester on Sunday night, although there has been no fresh snow in the area since Saturday.

City have been working hard at clearing ice and slush from the stadium area.

The club say the game will go ahead barring an unexpected turn for the worse in the weather, but although temperatures are set to fall to as low as -8C before kick-off, there is no snow forecast for Monday evening.

They have also confirmed that the Eastlands pitch is in perfect condition and there are no plans for a pitch inspection.

Only two Premier League games survived the weekend programme with snow causing the postponement of seven games, including the high-profile meeting of Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

While most of the pitches were playable, it was the effects of the snow and ice on the surrounding areas that forced games to be called off on health and safety grounds.

Meanwhile, Everton manager David Moyes believes City still have much to do to prove themselves as true title challengers.

"Money isn't always the answer but if you are going to win things you have to spend money," he said.

"If you want a quick return to overtake the Manchester Uniteds and Chelseas of this world, you are going to have to spend good money to get there.

"But even that isn't guaranteed. It takes time to get it all to happen. I don't think you can do it that quickly but I think Manchester City are getting themselves in a position at the right end of the table for what they are spending."

Yak, Saha, Beckford all on the bench.

Anichibe up front or no striker at all?

Howard, Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Coleman, Rodwell, Fellaini, Osman, Cahill, Anichebe.
Subs: Mucha, Hibbert, Bilyaletdinov, Saha, Beckford, Gueye, Yakubu.

Pienaar injured. Osman back.

We're quite possibly doomed.

Cahill as a lone striker and 5 in midfield presumably. To paraphrase some nobhead pundit "we'll need to score more than them to get anything out of this game".

I'm thinking everyone in midfield and occasionally lob the ball up for Cahill to head onto... err... nobody.

We're looking to hold them to a nil nil and if they score then we'll throw on three strikers for the last four and a half minutes.

Everton boss David Moyes: "I always thought Carlos Tevez was going to play, so it doesn't change much from that point of view. We've done OK recently, but not scored enough. We've played well here in the past and we'll try and do it again tonight."

right, so we'll play no strikers at all then, that should sort that one out scratch
