I don't know if Blackburn's defence were good or if our attack were bad.

Poor start, we have to pick ourselves up

On way home, so just quick message from me phone.

Thought it was a poor performance really. Not much plan to score as seen by the lack of cutting edge up front. Passed alright, but there was just no forward momentum in it. Have to be fair to Blackburn though, defended very well and we just couldn't cut through it.

It's easy to pick scrapgoats, but Distin looked particulary shaky to me, made their number 9 look worldclass at times. Cahill, Ossie, Neville and Saha all ineffective.

OK ... before we all jump into the "Bubbles Trench" of optimism - as opposed the "Uwie Trough" of despair one season and one result doth not a season make. From my reckoning we have the same number of points from last year's opening day and a four goal better goal difference.

Everyone will struggle against a side hell bent on playing the Allardyce way, trust me. As an oping fixture it was tough, but today would your rather be a Wigan fan (or a RS). I am not sure that any of us would want to be Seasider's even allowing for the day's result for th simple reason is that today (like our result) was a blip.

We will be okay
We will stuff Wolves

Just very disappointed that we reverted back to huff ball and did not change much when that was clearly not working.

ALSO my RED son and his wife have moved back in with us and he is giving me some stick already.
I can see him being moved out pretty soon if we have a run of poor games.

agree with the hoof ball at times, we played into their game play.

To be fair in defence we looked okay, JH to come back too.

Osman was poor, again we need a RW.

Post  hairy cataract on Sat 14 Aug 2010, 6:02 pm

I'd like to see Rodwell starting now. He's class. Heitinga should be one of the first names on the team sheet too. Neville is solid enough, but we've got Coleman FFS - let's give him a run, cos we need penetration. Look at the way Baines bombs forward when he can and causes problems. And Saha really only does it every few games. We've taken Beckford on a free, so let's give him a go - he looks like he's a confidence player, so he needs to be told he's getting a bite at being the first choice striker.

Fellaini needs a few games in the reserves to get himself back up and running.

Coleman for Neville
Beckford for Saha
Heitinga for Distin
Rodwell for Fellaini

That'd be a start. I'd think about dropping Osman too and either starting Billy on the right or giving Gueye a go.

Nothing radical like....

Possibly seeing the result of our piss easy pre-season fixtures. We only played one half-decent team and they snotted us. Would have been better to lose a good few of the pre-season games against boss opposition and have us in the right frame of mind for the start of the season. We'll recover. We always do.

I blame the coaching staff, and the players, especially Howard. Shocking drop that cost us the game.

Why did Fellaini start? I mean, really? He was well off the paces today from the first kick. I thought that Ronald McDonald was playing for a while.

Ohh, I can't dwell on this any more. I need to go outside and move a tree, so that's what I am going to do.

Ok all of that..... and the pink tops Very Happy

Fans are so fickle. if we end up the same at the end of the season we would be happy.
Or maybe not we would be saying we could have won if it wasn't for this game Blackburn Rovers 1 Everton 0 - Page 12 Confused

Moyes interview. Rather sober view of the game. The only surprising thing to me is that he says that we defended well. I thought there were times in the first half when we looked horrific defending.
