Blackburn Rovers 1 Everton 0
Onward and upward - Everton open their 2010-11 Premier League campaign with the short visit to Blackburn with 3 points very much in mind as they start the long campaign for glory. The signs pre-season are good - here's hoping they can give the Cloggers of Blackburn a good seeing to.

I thought him pulling out of the squad was as a direct result of a request made by Everton?

AEK Athens L 1-2

Preston NE L 0-3

Rangers L 1-2
AEK Athens L 1-2
Sydney FC W 2-1
Hearts D 1-1
Celtic W 2-1
Fairly unimpressive pre-season for Blackburn. The Preston reverse stands out considering it was a few days before we beat them 3-0. Looks like they are struggling for goals and the team is relying heavily on Dunn. No doubt they will try kick us off the park on Saturday. One thing is for certain, we will better our opening day result last season!

A nervy 2-1 win I reckon. Opening games of the season are always slow.

I don't think he will. Colman only played 14 minutes against Sligo the other day and, with no apparent injury, the only reason I can think of for Moyes taking him off is he didn't want to risk him getting injured but still wanted to him to have any kind of run-out against his old team. For that reason I think Colman will start on Saturday.

He was due to play for the Irish U21's was the reason (ie Sligo was Sunday, U21 was Tuesday)

Oh.

Honestly, the use of punctuation on this board is terrible. Where are your full stops?

Re: Blackburn Rovers 1 Everton 0
With Cahill not fully fit after an inury and Jags being rested after 90mins for England on Wednesday.
This is the team I think that Moyes will play:
Howard
Neville, Hetinga, Distin, Baines
Peinaar, Arteta, Felliani, Rodwell, Osman
Saha
Subs: Mucha, Yobo, Beckford, Anichebe, Coleman, Gueye, Bilyaledinov
(Yakubu, Hibbert)
Can you name 7 or 9 subs?
Just look at the quality on our bench, and thats with Cahill and Jags watching from the stands.

Is JH back yet? Expecting Distin in
Re: Blackburn Rovers 1 Everton 0
Three questions for me.
Is Heitinga back to match sharpness? Since Wenger said he wont start Fabregas and Van Persie, I doubt Moyes will start Heitinga unless he is 100% he's ready too. I suspect he will stick with Distin and Jags for now.
Two, Is Fellaini fully fit for the engine room after two bit part games? I only saw him for a half against a poor Chile Everton side but he wasn't slow to throw himself about. More suspensions beckon I suspect! Blackburn will throw their weight around and Moyes wont risk him if he's not sure.
Three, If Cahill makes it I expect him to rove around behind Saha. I doubt Beckford will be thrown in from the start just yet. I suspect he'll get a plenty of chances off the bench games to ease into the league although Wolves at home next weekend could give him a great opportunity to open his PL account.
With that in mind and with Moyes' cautious approach, especially with us on the road, Il go for:
..............Howard
Neville..Jags..Distin..Baines
.........Fellaini...Rodwell
Arteta.....Cahill.....Pienaar
............Saha
If Fellaini isnt to be risked, Neville moves into midfield, Coleman to rightback. At some stage, if we need to attack more, Magaye for Rodwell,(70mins) Beckford for Saha (75mins) and Yakubu for Peinaar(85mins).
Bench: Mucha, Heitinga, Billy,Coleman,Magaye, Osman,Yakubu
Not even making the bench: Vaughan, Silva, Yobo, Hibbert!
