Rodwell plays the ball for Beckford who controls it well, turns, shoots from 25 yards and misses by about 2 yards.
Not a bad first touch on his debut.

Melbourne seem to have given up pretty much now.
shot from about 30 yards for them, Turner saves easily.
26 minutes left.

Beckford holds the ball up again and wins a free kick.
He looks lively if nothing else.

6 points from two games. Fucking get in there. Will we be top on goal difference by the end? Smashing job by Davie to move to the A-League...

Beckford beats the offside trap, he was clean through, had a shot a bit too early though as the defence were getting back, looks good though.

Long ball from Distin for Anichebe who is offside.
Re: Friendly: Melbourne Heart 0 Everton 2 (Rodwell, Saha)
Sloppy from Rodwell, chance for Melbourne, easy save for Turner.

Silva fouled, free kick on the corner of the area.
Baxter to take.
Poor kick straight to the keeper.
Mustaphi still waiting to come on, probably for Distin

How did the new lads and the likes of Seamus look, MC?
Re: Friendly: Melbourne Heart 0 Everton 2 (Rodwell, Saha)
David Moyes was pleased with Everton's two goals as the Blues defeated Melbourne Heart 2-0. The result was the second victory of the Toffees' tour Down Under, following the 1-0 win over Sydney at the weekend. "I didn't think we played as well as we did against Sydney but we were aware it could be like that because of the travelling," Moyes told evertontv. "I am pleased we won the game and we had some exceptional performers, including Seamus Coleman and Phil Jagielka especially."
The Heart, a newly formed A-League team about to embark on their first season, weren't as threatining as their Sydney counterparts. "They had a couple of chances but we were, in the main, relatively comfortable," Moyes continued. "I was looking for us to control the game better at times but we did okay. "We wanted to give people opportunities and a few of them got that."
Both of Everton's goals we expertly created in their own way. The interplay that lead to Jack Rodwell's opener was matched by the clinical nature of Louis Saha's second goal. "The first goal was a great goal," agreed Moyes. "It was a great finish and good play by Seamus who also made the penalty. "It was a good goal by Louis too and he needed that after the penalty."

Re: Friendly: Melbourne Heart 0 Everton 2 (Rodwell, Saha)
Just watched the OS highlights.
The Rodwell goal, the peno, and at least two other chances came from exactly the same move. Vic sliding a left footed ball inside the fullback for an overlapping Coleman. Very nice combination, and Vic set up Saha once as well, same move on the other side of the area.
Who'da thunk it? Vic as the new Arteta!

Just saw the goals there on SSN. Both lovely goals especially Saha's curler into top corner.
Kit watch:
Despite all the 'interest' over our pink kit, there was a lovely unfussy traditional feel to the new home kit. Tidy blue top with crisp white shorts with minimal trims. Looks our best home kit for quite a few years.
