If he scores goals, then he clearly has no future as an Everton right back.
Coleman scores, we riot.
Could cost the club a lot of money in fines
Didn't see much rioting the other night.

Re: 23: Seamus Coleman - Sligo's overpriced superstar
EVERTON skipper Phil Neville is happy to go back for the future – to allow young “warrior” Seamus Coleman the chance to progress. Neville moved back from his regular midfield role to play right-back at Fulham, with Coleman operating as a more attacking right-sided player in front of him. And the skipper believes the switch was good for both players. “Seamus is a fantastic player to have in the squad – he’s a warrior,” he explained. “It was good to play with him. I helped him and he helped me, and it all bodes well for the future. “The main part of Seamus’ game is going forward, and at Fulham he had the license to do what he wanted. If I was a left-back I wouldn’t like to play against him.”

not really, moyes clearly sees coleman's immediate future as an attacking outlet in midfield rather than defenceSheep Flavour wrote:Poor old Hibbo must be bricking it.
hibbo is still the second choice right back, and is unlucky that nev is captain as he is arguably our best right back defensively, and the difference going forward between him and pip is minimal (if anything hibbo has steadily improved in this area recently)
coleman for the time being thought remains out of contention for the RB slot imo

Fantasy footie gave Coleman a bonus point today. Hibbo could only wish for that.

You think he cuts it as an AM? He has to play defence for me.

Re: 23: Seamus Coleman - Sligo's overpriced superstar
but he's defensively weak at the moment compared to neville and hibbo, that will come with time and i am sure that he'll end up there but right at this minute i think moyes is taking the right approach in exploiting his obvious attacking talent whilst we need itSheep Flavour wrote:paul wrote:not really, moyes clearly sees coleman's immediate future as an attacking outlet in midfield rather than defenceSheep Flavour wrote:Poor old Hibbo must be bricking it.

True. I cant see him starting at right back while Hibbo and Pip are fit as Moyes will always put in the more defensively sound player first. And maybe, just maybe if Donovan returns in January, Coleman has until then to prove himself as a regular starter. My fear is when Pienaar returns, Moyes will return Osman to the right wing because of his effective performance today. With Osman, one good performance seems to wipe the slate clean in Moyes' book.

No wonder opposing defenders have so much trouble against the lad.. they are never quite sure which Seamus is going to be coming towards them...

Re: 23: Seamus Coleman - Sligo's overpriced superstar
Trappatoni confirmed that Coleman will make his Ireland debut against Norway on Wednesday. The upward (or downward!) curve continues for Seamus..

Re: 23: Seamus Coleman - Sligo's overpriced superstar
Apart from one strange missed chance, Coleman showed up Lenon and Bale with his wing play, and was by far the best player on the pitch last night.
He must be top of the pile of Moyes's bargain basement buys!

i still think he's got a fair bit to go technically as that missed chance shows but what he does offer is pace and directness and that is exactly what we lack.

Can't believed he missed that one, if you watch the reply he gets to the corner of the 6 yard box. Should have just toe punted it.

I wouldnt be too hard on him. The space narrowed down very quickly. There wasnt a clear pass across to Pienaar who was tracked and another defender in the way of getting a clear pass across to Beckford. The space infront of Gomes narrowed and you could his brain panicked from uncertainty of what was the right option. We have all been there at 5-aside! His decision making will become better over time.
What was brilliant for me in the build up to his goal is that he bust a gut to be in a position to profit on any loose ball. The finish might have been easy but he did well to be in that position.

Re: 23: Seamus Coleman - Sligo's overpriced superstar
I don't think he has much natural ability with the ball but his pace and tenacity to worry defenders. And isn't it great to finally have an decent outlet on the right of the team?
