Re: 3: Leighton Baines - Hotter than Cole (sort ya hair out lad)
Leighton Baines says he's planning on staying at Everton for the rest of his career – and is optimistic he will have won some silverware with the Club by the time he does come to hang up his boots.
Baines, 29, signalled his commitment to the Blues by signing a new four-year contract at Goodison Park in January.
And the left-back, who has played nearly 300 games for Everton since joining in 2007, said: “I may well retire here now - I’m not looking to go anywhere else.
“I’m trying to achieve something at this Club because it’s been starved of success over the decades.
“I would love to be a part of a team that brings success back.”
Samuel Eto’o became the fourth World Cup star to make a summer switch to Everton on Wednesday, joining Muhamed Besic, Romelu Lukaku and Christian Atsu.
And Baines says the Club’s ambition has also been reflected in the way Ross Barkley and John Stones have signed new extended deals.
He continued: “They were linked to other clubs but committed themselves to Everton on long-term contracts, and that’s as big a boost as anything.”

Its shown since Moyes departure , Everton fc have become a far better team under Martinez, because we are no longer a feeder club for bigger teams , In fact Chelsea have become are feeder club with the acquisition of Lukaku-Atsu and ex-Chelsea man Eto'o. Happy Days

As I said elsewhere.. given our current defensive nightmare.. it would be typical to get defensive injuries on stupid international dutySuper wrote:@SkySportsNewsHQ: BREAKING NEWS: Leighton Baines pulls out of the England squad after picking up an injury in training. #SSNHQ

There were fears of a long absence, but a scan revealed only a grade one tear, the least serious damage.
And a statement on the Everton website said Baines could yet be fit for their next game - at home to West Ham next Saturday.
"Baines will continue to be monitored by Everton’s medical team and, although he remains a doubt for next Saturday, he has not yet been ruled out of the game against Sam Allardyce’s Hammers."

Not too bad, but would obviously be a big loss if he is out of the West Ham game. Think Oviedo is injured as well so will probably be Garbutt. Should still win the game if we play anywhere near our best.

I would be very happy with a win, naturally, but I don't think we should underestimate WH.Dixie Land wrote:Yankthattoffee wrote:There were fears of a long absence, but a scan revealed only a grade one tear, the least serious damage.

They have looked good this season mate. Downing and Sakho have looked excellent whenever I have seen them this week. I watched them play Man City the other week and their win was no fluke. We can beat them but we need to improve on our own form.

Up until reading that last night Baines could do no wrong in my eyes. This is a cop out if ever there was one. It would have been better if he'd have said he'd lost his bottle. Footballers really are a breed of their own.

Defender Leighton Baines has been ruled out of Everton's last two Premier League games following ankle surgery.
The left-back will also miss England's friendly against the Republic of Ireland on 7 June and their Euro 2016 qualifier with Slovenia a week later.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez revealed Baines, 30, had been struggling with the problem for the past three years.
Martinez said: "He has had surgery. It was straightforward. He will be out until the start of pre-season."
Baines, who has 30 England caps, was taken off injured during Everton's Premier League defeat by Sunderland last weekend.
The Toffees travel to West Ham on Saturday (15:00 BST) before their final league match of the season, at home to Tottenham on 24 May.

Gathering rumours are suggesting Everton have been rocked by the news that Leighton Baines faces another three months on the sidelines with an ankle problem.
Unconfirmed whispers claim that the 30-year-old defender has suffered a relapse of the injury that required corrective surgery towards the end of last season, which, if true, hands Roberto Martinez a major injury setback on the eve of a new season for the second year running.

Galloway was competent, but we didn't look a threat on that side until Oviedo came on.
