PLAYERS' LONGEST GOAL-SCORING DROUGHTS
"Tony Hibbert has never scored for Everton in his 304 games for the club. Is this a record, or have there been any more impressive examples of non-scoring outfield players?" pondered James Moseley last week.
Birmingham City and Newcastle United have form in this category, James. Gerard Sugrue nominates the man with the smallest mouth in football, Frank Clark: "He scored one league goal for Nottingham Forest in the final years of his career. Before that he played 389 league games for Forest and Newcastle between 1962 and 1975 without scoring a goal. And while we're on the subject of Newcastle, Bobby Moncur scored only three goals in his 294 appearances for them – all of them in the two-legged Fairs Cup final of 1969."
Gerard says Birmingham have the winner though: "Frank Womack appears to be the player with the most games without a goal – 511 between 1908 and 1929. Kenny Cunningham – who also turned out for Birmingham among others – appears to be the most recent player to make over 500 league appearances (531) with the fewest goals." As far as we can see, Cunningham scored just one league goal – and that was for Millwall in the early days of his career.
Moving to Italy, Simon Paknadel tells us that Luigi Perversi played 318 games for Milan in the top-flight without scoring once. Karol Foyle beings us this zinger from the Netherlands/Australia. "Sydney FC's Dutch defender Pascal Bosschaart has never scored in his professional career despite having played 377 league games. Bosschaart started his career at Utrecht (194 games) then moved to Feyenoord (53 games), then ADO Den Haag (103 games) before his surprise move to Sydney FC where he has played a further 27 games. During his final game for Utrecht, his side were awarded a penalty and Bosschaart was given the chance to take it but missed. You can read more about Bosschart's non-scoring feats here.
So just 86 games to go to beat the record.

RIOT !!!
https://mail.google.com/mail/#inbox/137eb733568e0d4c
Tony Hibbert insists he will definitely be on penalty duties when AEK Athens visit Goodison Park for his testimonial.
The Huyton-born defender will be rewarded for his 11 years of first-team service when the Greeks arrive for a pre-season friendly on August 8.
Hibbert, who has never scored for the Blues despite making over 300 appearances, said: “The crowd probably wouldn’t leave the stadium if I didn’t take it so I think I would step forward if we get a penalty."

Re: 2: Tony Hibbert - He Scores When He Wants!!
http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2012/07/25/hibbo-s-generosity-praised
Tony Hibbert has been praised for his generosity after the defender pledged to donate part of his testimonial proceeds to two children's charities.
Hibbert will be honoured on Wednesday 8 August when AEK Athens visit Goodison Park in a game to mark the Academy graduate's service to the Club.
And in a move typical of the humble Evertonian, he has opted to share some of the proceeds from the game with two hard-working organisations – Claire House and Rainbow Trust.
A spokesperson from Claire House Children's Hospice said: "The children and staff are extremely proud to be one of Tony’s chosen charities for his upcoming testimonial.
"We are a home from home for local children who suffer from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. We rely on the generosity of people like Tony and all the local community to continue to provide the services that our children and their families depend on.
"We would like to congratulate Tony on being given a testimonial. He has been a fantastic and loyal servant to Everton and we are honoured to be associated with him."
Meanwhile, the other beneficiary from the game, Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, were equally grateful upon hearing the news.
"We are delighted that Tony Hibbert has chosen to support Rainbow Trust and to make a donation as part of his testimonial," the organisation told evertonfc.com.
"Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Rainbow Trust's Family Support Workers join the family in their own home and are there to provide practical support.
"We are contactable 24 hours a day for families in crisis from diagnosis, through treatment and even after bereavement."

Great to read. Now, how much can they expect to get? How much total revenue would this testimonal give, and then how much gets distributed to these hospitals?
Re: 2: Tony Hibbert - He Scores When He Wants!!
While no doubt a kind gesture from Hibbert but isn't it the norm for well paid Premier League professionals to cover cost and then give the rest to charity these days? He's hardly hard up, our Tony! I know Niall Quinn donated all the proceeds from his testimonial to charity?

His crippling carp fishing addiction has swallowed most of his earnings, he'll need some of the gate money to keep the bailiffs at bay, but considering the circumstances, it's very generous.
Re: 2: Tony Hibbert - He Scores When He Wants!!
Hibbert was born in Merseyside and brought up in Huyton. He is a god amongst men and scored his only ever goal against AEK Athens during his testimonial game on August the 8th 2012. The goal resulted in worldwide riots.Growing up as an Everton supporter, Hibbert joined the club as a boy.

Rumours that the Syrian rebels and government forces put their differences aside for 5 mins to watch replays of the goal.
