Post  Hinchcliffe Corner on Sun 08 Feb 2015, 11:14 am

The HC draw machine rumbles on... can we extend our unbeaten run to 7 against the likely champions, at their place, with a squad that's clearly incapable of any sort of dangerous attack? To be quite honest, I'm not feeling too optimistic, and I think my reign may come to an end on Wednesday. But in the spirit of optimism I'm going to say we'll play a blinder of a game and sneak a win in a high scoring 3-2 game. Lukaku with a brace and Barkley with the other.

I'm sure we'll park the park the bus again with Besic, Barry and McCarthy in central midfield.

1-0 to Chelsea. Terry 94th minute goal.

I can see Chelsea allowing us to attack so they counter against us on the break.

For Big Luke, it will prove weather Maureen yoyo was right about him.
Hopefully between now and Wednesday RM can explain the offside rule to him, and how to make yourself available to your teammates without the linesman raising his battenburg flag.

Would be great and would make for 5 points from what was 3 difficult looking games. Might have to settle for the 4 though.

We're going to win this one, I can feel it in me bones. It's all going to come good now with Lennon and McCarthy pulling the strings. Barkley will tear them apart.

The season starts here.

Post  Super on Tue 10 Feb 2015, 1:15 pm

Tim Howard is set to return to the Everton team for Wednesday evening's clash with Chelsea.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez revealed the American has fully recovered from his calf problem and is in line to come straight back into the team after missing eight matches since suffering his injury against Stoke City on Boxing Day.

"Tim has been working very well. Yesterday he trained well so he is fully fit now for any games," Martinez told reporters at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday lunchtime.

"Whenever Tim is fit his is our number one. The experience that he has, what he represents in our squad - I have got total faith in him. It's great to see him fit again and training again and having a massive influence on our squad."

"The goalkeeping position is a different one to any outfield position because the outfield positions is more about moments of form and ways of playing against opposition. IN goal you need a bit of stability."

"Joel has been really good - I've been pleased with his last two performances. TO keep a clean sheet against Crystal Palace and Liverpool, he has shown the size of the keeper we have. He is still a young man in terms of games but he has shown he has a good future and I have been proud of him."

Martinez has refused to rule Leighton Baines out of Wednesday's game, though he admits the left-back's involvement does look doubtful.

Baines was absent from Saturday's goalless draw with Liverpool due to a knock to his knew sustained at Crystal Palace and will undergo a late fitness test to determine whether he can return at Stamford Bridge.

Aiden McGeady, who also missed the derby, is definitely out however with a bruised knee, and James McCarthy will also be assessed, with Martinez wary of overburdening the midfielder following his month-long absence with a hamstring injury.

Martinez added: "Leighton had a fitness test on Saturday and he hasn't been able to train since then. It's difficult to see him being involved at the moment, but we'll assess him when he comes in today and we'll make a final decision closer to the game.

"Aiden McGeady is progressing well but he is not going to be able to make the squad. He still has bruising in his knee bone."

"James McCarthy we need to make sure we assess him again because we don't want to give him too much work too early."

Christian Astu has not yet returned from African Cup of Nations duty and is ineligible anyway to play against his parent club.

Tony Hibbert, Steven Pienaar and Leon Osman are still recovering from their respective injuries and remain unavailable.

I think so as well. I would have preferred if Howard had to WORK his way back in to the number one spot and not just have it handed back to him.

I think he has grown with each game.
The Gerrard free kick on Saturday - Would Tim have got there?
He gives a few inches away to Billy Joel, so dare I say Joel is better from crosses?

Howard's biggest weakness is arguably crosses, so I think that's a fair statement. Very Happy

On current form, our only hope is to keep it tight at the back and hope to nick a goal on the break.

If we try and trade punches with them like at GP, we will get our asses kicked.

0-1 to us (Lukaku to score against his old club) cheers

Interesting that Lennon starts. Also interesting that Mirallas is benched. And that McCarthey isn't risked from the start.

But overall, makes no fucking difference, cos Barry is playing so we're going to fucking lose Evil or Very Mad
