The "problem" as I see it is that he's slow and cumbersome. The slowness was not really much of a factor when we would lump the ball towards him and he played in the hole and would take the ball down on his chest and lay it off to a team mate.Made 4 Gwladys wrote:back to Everton ... and I wouldn't mind one bit ... However, when we are now more of a playing side, I just don't know how he would fit in. He's too slow (I think) to play in the hole behind the striker, which I think is arguably his best position. He never takes on a defender (again too slow), he's not going to do overlapping runs (too slow).
So, unless he was very cheap, sorry Felli, but we have moved on.

I feel a bit sorry for Felli.Knight of Thorgothshire wrote:Allegedly on the way to Napoli. But who knows?
A bit of a misfit, who found his best level at EFC. Now he just looks lost. Maybe Napoli is a good move. Fresh start in a new league who are unfamiliar with him. The cutting of the afro is akin to Beck's shaven head after the Argie sending off.

Me too, He will return to the premiership when he's gotten fed up with pasta.

Yes, it was boss. That's exactly the way to react. Then fall over crying and get the cunt sent off.

In fairness, if Felli had have got Wilshere sent off then Wilshere now would not be out for 4 months.
Gutted.

Fuck me it took a long time to find the Fellaini thread. It was further down the ex-players' list than Ryan Ledson and Courtney Duffus. Did we do one of those Stalinist "non person" jobs on Fellaini when he engineered his move away? His name shall not be spoken, like Voldemort.
Anyhoo, he retires from football at the age of 35 this weekend when the Chinese Super League season wraps up. Distasteful though his departure was, I have some fond memories of Fellaini. And some not-so-fond memories, such as that tendency for referees to give a foul against him for simply being tall and in the general vicinity of the ball, an unfortunate fate he shared with Big Dunc.
Fellaini is unique in one respect - no other footballer's chest was ever the centrepiece of a team's entire tactical approach for half a season like his was. I can imagine a close-up whiteboard drawing of Fellaini's chest occupying a corner of the Finch Farm war room, with Moyes moving different coloured magnets around his nips to show where he wanted Tim Howard to hit him from 50 yards away. You know Moyes, attention to detail.
It's also poignant in one other respect in that Fellaini's last season (also Moyes's last season) was the last time we finished above the Shite. 10 years ago. Fuck. That seems as distant as the Moon from the Earth right now.

He'd fit in well in a Dyche team.

In the Duke role, absolutely.
