Everton 4 - Wolfsburg 1 Och.G, Coleyman, Baines, Kev
Beatles v Beetles
Having finally opened our season this is coming at the right time.
I can see Besic, Atsu and Gibson starting on Thursday, and getting 90 minutes if we play reasonably well.
Coleman, Stones, Jags and Baines need more team-building time, they should all go drinking down the dock road tonight and finish with a curry in town.

I think RM will field his best possible side.
The second stringers will be used for Swansea and the Russian trip.
We need to beat the Germans so we can just go for a draw on October 2nd with Gibson, Kone, Hibbert, Alcaraz, Robles, Besic & Atsu featuring.
Just saying like.....

We play this lot against Swansea , it will be very tough getting anything.

The Swansea game already looks like a throw away.
PL and Europa will be the priority up to the new year.

Looks like they've had a similar start to the season as us as they've played 3 games drawing 2 and losing 1 with a goal difference of -1 exactly where we were before the win over WBA

Re: Everton 4 - Wolfsburg 1 Och.G, Coleyman, Baines, Kev
Maybe one or two minor changes but not wholesale.....
GK & back 4 now pick themselves, Stones over Dizzy. Will he contemplate resting Barrys legs, for Besic or Gibson?
I expect Osman to come in. Mcgeady/Atsu, Lukaku & Mirallas front 3.
Need to win home games.

McGeedy is OK going forward but seems to have no defensive duties.tadpole wrote:Maybe one or two minor changes but not wholesale.....

When Ossie came on against WBA we dominated, after a shaky few minutes.
McGeedy is a luxury we can't afford at this level.
I hope a midfielder takes his role. The rest is fine.
Maybe Eto'o for his Euro experience? Could that be part of his EFC agreement? Can he play Nais's role?

Good shout. rest Naismith push Eto'o behind Lukaku, give Barry a rest and replace with Gibson, Ossie can replace Eto'o mid-second half.
both McGeady & Mirralas have plenty European experience as does Eto'o, 2-1 the mighty Blues, It will be Bayern Munich all over again coming from behind.
Re: Everton 4 - Wolfsburg 1 Och.G, Coleyman, Baines, Kev
If Eto'o is fit then he's surely a starter... these are the games he's made forsefton wrote:Yankthattoffee wrote:McGeedy is OK going forward but seems to have no defensive duties.tadpole wrote:Maybe one or two minor changes but not wholesale.....

This will either be the kick-start our season needs, or we will get massively found out. Hopefully the occasion and atmosphere of a Goodison night game, make it the former.

Re: Everton 4 - Wolfsburg 1 Och.G, Coleyman, Baines, Kev
Wolfsburg manager, Dieter Hecking is worried about the fans making the noise at Goodison at a night match.
Hecking also pinpointed Everton's Baines and Coleman as dangermen. Lets hope they both play.
Hecking said: "Everton play from the back and very rarely play the long ball. They have got two excellent full-backs who are capable of moving forward and Gareth Barry in midfield is another key player.
"Everton always attempt to play football and they have the players for that. There's also a physicality which is typical of football in England so there will be challenges and we have to prepare for that."
"I've spoken to people who know football in England and they have said that Everton has an almost unique atmosphere. The fans are right on the case from the start and if there is a mistake from the opposition, Everton fans will get on top of them.
"In terms of the group, this is the strongest one in the Europa League. It will be difficult for both Wolfsburg and Everton because all the games will be close."
Anyone going the game tonight? Give them hell.wish I was going but, got work tomorrow.
Enjoy the night.
