Definitely can't see us finishing above a team with Mata, Rooney and RVP in it. We'd do well to finish sixth although Spuds and Saints look good.

Just hope that United can catch the RS.

Bad Errors, No Luck for Everton: Great Finishing by The Shite..

It's the little things... mostly luck in the first instance. We were decent going forward - especially Mirallas but it's the little things - the early (expected, again) heatseekers on Pienaar to put him on the backfoot, the slip by Barry (to eliminate Lukaku - perhaps for a few weeks) meaning not get anywhere near Gerrard for the opener when the game was keenly contested - the little things like Liverpool exploiting our makeshift unsteady back four (we expected that to a degree but had a right to expect something ourselves from our approach play), the little things that mean Kevin Mirallas' two efforts (at 0-1) are so close, inches wide...when it actually matters..

I have no problem though with crediting LFC for their performance, but Everton's problems were all of their own making at the back, sadly and being too gung ho. Should have kept it tight.

Any good news? Roberto will learn a lot from this and, arguably, because the cause of the defeat was, primarily, down to OUR errors we can do better.. Everton created enough to score 2 or 3 themselves but defended badly to literally GIVE the game to them (goals 2-4). Yes, they played well - but overall it was, pretty much, given to them - is that much of a consolation - that it was something we could have done better and, on another day, with fewer errors, a shade more luck when the game was afoot and so on we'd have been in with a shout? Not a great deal when you have to go to work tomorrow.

TD, we played like Wigan.
No protection for the back 4, when it was obvious that's what we needed to do with a back 4 who had never played together before..
Atkinson was a joke.
We don't defend set pieces well enough. We haven't all season.
We got suckered and mugged.
So how about the FA cup then boys?!!

+1 we defended like wigan did when they had injuries to their defence, however we didn't have their attacking options going forward, where is Kone when you need him!!!!

I would largely agree TD. We didn't learn much last night that we didn't know already (we won't finish 4th; we freeze at Anfield). The result was probably more about our mistakes than Liverpool being any good. Once they went one up it was always going to be a mountain to climb because they could just pick us off on the break.

We need depth but decent competitive depth to our squad

We've a strong 11 or 12 but with injuries and sales leaves us championship quality

RM gambled on Barkley and jags fitness, just hope it's not effected their returns

I would guess that we've all known we were due for a tonking at some point this season - my only surprise is it took this long - but gutted that it was at the Shite. The important thing is to remember that we haven't looked like Wigan at all this season - in fact, even after last night we've got the third best defensive record in the league and no team has lost less games than us.

I wouldn't be surprised if Villa sorted us out as well, they're starting to look better and their pace is a real problem to us. But that doesn't matter too much either, it's how we cope after that. Right from the start I've said I would take 7th place and an FA Cup victory, and I'd still bite your hand off if offered that. So the next big game for us is Swansea in the 5th round. If we lose that I'll be really disappointed, much more than I am after the Shite beating us.
