Southampton will be glad to go to a part of the country with electricty, and the Goodison crowd will provide that in abundance on SUNDAY following their Boxing Day disappointment. Matt le Tissier might give them the lead, but goals from Seamus Coleman, Romelu Lukaku and an own goal from Francis Benali will see Everton comfortable 3-1 winners in the end.

COYB!

Post  Sack the Juggler on Sat 28 Dec - 14:46

We have really rode our luck at times this season, and I know we have played some lovely footie and had a chance of moving to the top of the table last weekend, but we've also played some dire footie and somehow managed to get away with it.

I reckon it's downhill from here in. We've forgotten how to pass the ball and our players are just going for the glory shot instead of passing the ball around in their area.

On top of that Howard's out and we've got a dodgy keeper in goal, and Barry is out, so we'll probably see alcopops on at some point and Martinez's dodgy buying policy (of bringing in relegated players) will show us up for what we really are; Wigan mark ii

Southampton are looking back to their best, will be hard to break down, and will test our dodgy keeper (another relegated player), so 0-3 to Southampton, Kone to get a hat trick, everton to fall back to mid table, Moyles to be sacked, and kenwright to sell the club to Vinnie Tan at halftime.

Not sure Baines will get back in the side. Don't need his free kicks now Barkley has worked out how to take them, and Oviedo has looked livelier than Leighton, perhaps cos he's younger. Sell Baines to ManUre and buy a striker and a nippy winger.

Southampton defender Dejan Lovren could feature, having missed the Boxing Day win at Cardiff because of illness. Nathaniel Clyne and Dani Osvaldo are in contention to return from injury but Artur Boruc and Victor Wanyama are out.

Apparently he is out injured for 4 weeks.

Everton are without Phil Jagielka for the visit of Southampton. The captain is out with a hamstring problem and is replaced by Antolin Alcaraz in the starting XI for the Paraguayan's debut.

Leon Osman takes the captain's armband with Leighton Baines also back in the team. Bryan Oviedo keeps his place though, and Ross Barkley and Steven Naismith are also recalled.

Gareth Barry is banned, Steven Pienaar drops to the bench and Joel Robles is in goal in place of the suspended Tim Howard.

The changes mean Baines is set to slot in at left-back with Oviedo operating further forward.

Everton: Joel, Coleman, Distin, Alacaraz, Baines, McCarthy, Osman, Oviedo, Barkley, Naismith, Lukaku. Subs: Hibbert, Heitinga, Jelvaic, Mirallas, Pienaar, Stones, Springthorpe.

Southampton: K.Davis, Lovren, Fonte, Lambert, S.Davis, Rodriguez, Ward-Prowse, Cork, Lallana, Chambers, Shaw. Subs: Gazzaniga, Clyne, Yoshida, Ramirez, Hooiveld, Reed, Gallagher.
