We've learnt why we don't see Deulofeu in the league. Undoubtedly got skill, shame it doesn't involve passing. We can't afford to play him, Barkley and Mirallas at the same time. Though in fairness Mirallas' passing is getting better.

a disappointing result - in the end the performance was not so good but there.was a lot to enthuse about. With a modicum of good fortune we would have seen this tie off. Misfortune for the equaliser (great tackle by Coleman but the ball ran free to Berbatov) and a poor call by Atkinson to award a free-kick from which we fell asleep (he made a number of these poor calls as he is a fairly useless ref we all know). Hell losing is always crap but Deulofeu is a real gem and Lukaku a monster. One less series of matches to worry about and will be interesting to see how Roberto (and the players) take this result.

All in all I think we were desperately unlucky but that's not much consolation right now.

I can see why Barca loaned Delafoofoo out - he's a sensational player but he really is still learning his trade. I don't think he can be playing full 90 minute matches in the league yet, definitely be a great impact sub though for the last 25 mins or so. What we possibly lacked tonight was someone to make the simple but incisive passes into the danger zone - in other words: Baines.

I don't think it was a terrible line-up tonight all things considered. In hindsight Barry should have played not Gibson, and Johnny 5 shouldn't be anywhere near the first team but, other than that, it looked quite balanced and of good quality.

Robles looked pretty good tonight. A lot better than Mucha and I expect him to be challenging for the number 1 jersey next season. I didn't think McCarthy was as bad as some are making out. He played some decent balls, mainly to Deloufeu on the left, and linked the play quite well. I expect he will take a little while to settle in but he looks promising. Kone was injured. Very Happy

Most important thing from tonight - we really can't afford to let Baines go in January. Oviedo was fairly shit at left back. Other important thing - we can't play Heitinga, Gibson and McCarthy in midfield and expect to win.

3 tepid draws, a lucky win against Chelsea, two set pieces to beat West Ham and now this. I'm not suggesting that we would have done better under Moyes but we have been unconvincing so far.

when you losing a game playing one striker alone aint good enough ,.Fulham changed the game when bringing on Bent to go 2 strikers
we got to start leaning to play with two strikers or we can expect more of the same, Barkley should have played he's young full of energy.
if we are to win anything ? we got to play are strongest team .

8 changes from the weekend was, in hindsight, too many. We do need Baines to create our chances and tonight showed just how important he is to us. Still, we looked really good in the first half and should have put the game to bed before the break.
