Chelsea midfield will be a real handful when going forward, so we need to be able to hold them, but we still need to be able to score.  Kone has had the last couple of weeks to work on his fitness so there should be no excuses and I expect him to start with jelli on the bench.

If we get beat 5-0 then it's going to be a long season.
I don't think getting hammered in this game will define our season at all.  It's early days.  If we won 5-0 it wouldn't define it either.  Though, to be honest, I think it may be a long season anyway pale

1-2, our consolation goal in the 89th minute from a mazy run and sexy chip by Delafoofoo.

I dont understand the lack of confidence a lot of people have this season.   Dont we have a better sqad than last season?

Yes we do have a better squad,we should really have more confidence in our team and our manager, not just against the top teams.
This season we have a better squad and hopefully we can surprise a few people.

And hopefully Martinez won't be as scared of the 'big' teams as Moyes tended to be.

Can go anyway - Chelsea at their best are a real handful but Everton have an excellent record in the past 4-5 years against them (relatively speaking that is 3 wins 4 draws 3 losses) - I'm going for a 1-1 draw - we might be denied by a disappointing late equaliser or we might scramble a lucky point.. if the football gods think we're owed one we'll steal the points against the run of play!

1-1 Mirallas and Lampard.

We have not really been affected by flooding which is nice. It rained for 3 days though, which is strange since last summer it didn't rain for over 3 months....

In addition, we were on lawn watering restrictions at the beginning of this summer. Go figure.

No Kone, no Pienaar, our big signing only on the bench, Naismith starting, Jeli up front.... we're fucking doomed.  We'll be lucky to score nil.  Our only hope is to park the bus and hope Chelsea die of boredom.

Instead of Nais, why not throw Foofoo on there? Nais is totally clueless out there.

At least we'll have a (proper) striker on the pitch for the next game.
