And it's all over. Getting a point ain't all bad. Too bad we couldn't hold on for the win.

Pretty promising though after watching the last couple of pre-season games this was a good step forward.

decent point I suppose for the first game... given the amount of chances though we could have scored 5... our defence is a worry to me.. Dizzy was great, but he'd be bad today we'd have leaked like a sieve.

I'm not sure I'm happy, but I suppose I should be

FT. We seem to be playing exactly the same as we did under Moyes; quick passing with a few long balls thrown in to mix it up. Which is no bad thing. And just like under Moyes, we dominant the game but only a get a point. Status quo.

At least our midfield was much better today compared to against Real Betis. Osman pretty quiet, but the rest showed up.

Barkley or Distin MOTM? I'd go for Barkley thanks to the great strike. Very Happy

Both of their goals had a bit of luck about them. The first a lucky deflection and the second came from a shit shot which ended up as a good cross. We bossed the game and deserved to win the game. Barkley looked quality today and scored a brilliant goal. Mirallas wasn't at his best today but why Naismith came on instead of him is beyond me.

I thought Osman was very poor today. He has to wake. Pienaar wasn't great and Distin was asleep for their first goal.

Saying all that, it was a good performance away from home and if we do that for the season we'll be alright.

Well we certainly deserved more than a point but as a starter it was pretty encouraging. Yes, it was only Norwich but, pretty much, there are no gimmes in away games in the PL. Firstly I thought we largely controlled the game, were the better side and, but for a couple of moments where we conceded, were comfortable in all areas of the pitch. The first Norwich goal came from a run we ought to have stopped - the 2nd goal from what can only be described as a fluke of a cross. Even then we should have won it - Jela should have squared the ball. So many good things about the way we approached the game and Roberto's mentality compared to Moyes - Moyes would have been withdrawing players at 2-1 up and shutting up shop - here we saw Everton attack Norwich from the off and keep at it. Barkley scored a lovely goal too!

I think it was a decent start for us. A good game to watch and real promise of things to come from Barkley and Coleman. Pienaar not as his best which is a shame, maybe he's beginning to show his age a bit. Martinez just interviewed by Lineker and seems pretty happy with how things went. I do like the manner of our new manager Smile

Well considering were lost 2-1 there last season, and drew 2-2 the year before, cant really throw any defensive brickbats at Martinez. Infact, its up front again where its looking to cost us points.

Looking forward to watching the Blues next week infront of the home crowd. Vital we didnt lose today but at least we went for it.
Colemans adventure already paying off with goal and an assist!

We looked better then the Shite, thats for sure.

I think Danny Welbeck is going to get the first official Moyes hairdryer! Pisses about infront of the defense, loses it and Bony scores. Poor play.

Thing is, both their goals had a bit of luck about them. You can't rely on that for a whole season. Both of ours were constructed in our play and if we keep doing that, the rewards will come.

Then came the United game.......

There has to be a principal behind such occurrences.
We play brilliantly at times, with scant reward. Swans do the same for 30 minutes and then................
It must be a similar principal, that toast will always land on the buttered side.
