I'd like to see United come in for JS, so we have a headline like "It's not Jose's, it's Gaal's Stones"
I don't seem to be able to find my coat. It's got a taxi business card in it somewhere.
but sadly........................
"Chelsea wait to see if John Stones requests to leave Everton before making fourth bid."

"Everton manager Roberto Martínez has refused to deny claims John Stones is attracted to the possibility of moving to Stamford Bridge"
Fucking journos again.........of course he's not responded. He's told those muppets he's not for sale with every bid, what more do they want?
Just shows how derisory the first bid was, as they have now doubled it, if the lying journos are to be believed

Ah sure nothing like a quiet Sunday evening game against City to push Stones out of the limelight, eh?

Bobby also hasn't denied that Stones isn't attracted to the possibility of moving to stamford bridge, either. So really we're none the wiser.

I think the fact that Stones said he was happy at Everton speaks for itself, so why should Bobby pander to the prick journos?

Fast forward to 1.05 to see Pinocchio (Martinez) been interrogated by Prince Charming (Media) about Shrek (Stones).

Looks like Chelsea have just signed Pedro, not because they particularly need him, just because the can. (Or at least block a rival from signing him.) If they go for Stones again, that could bring their weekly spend to £80m plus. Thats a lot of club card points.

This sort of thing is definitely in their mind. They had over 20 players out on loan last year, so they decide who plays for which team.
FA should start looking at this latest system to rival moneyball.

Perhaps they'll lend us Pedro as part of the Stones deal...

Re: 26. John Stones - Pirlo eat your heart out!
The yanks use a system in some of their sports where they analyse the performances of players to the nth degree, much like we we all do in Fantasy Football. The team is picked, players all bought and sold, all according to their stats. The simple maths of buying players cheap, improving their game, and then selling high, is all part of the overall strategy.Goodison_Gringo wrote:Yankthattoffee wrote:Bluejagz wrote:Looks like Chelsea have just signed Pedro, not because they particularly need him, just because the can. In Chelsea's case, is it fair of me to say that they seem to be buying players that other top sides in the PL want, then loaning them out to teams who are not direct rivals? Look at Lukaku, loaned to WBA, then us, then sold on for a massive profit without doing very much at all. I recall reading last year, that Chelsea had 23 players out on loan. They can manipulate who plays for which club. Pedro for instance?
(at least that's how I think of Moneyball at midnight )

The concept of moneyball was developed by the Oakland As general manager in the late 90s. Oakland had no viable means of comparing buying power to the likes of New York or St Louis. By looking at statistical analysis Sabermetrics the constructed a team of average players to gel and compete against anyone. Boston tried to pinch the GM to develop a winning strategy for Red Sox. They did not get the guy but employ his methods when winning their first World Series in over 80 years. The Red Sox management now run the Shoite! And in some ways explains there philosophy at least on transfer funding..

You could read up on FC Midtjylland too. Won the Danish league last year applying same Moneyball philosophy. Actually playing Southampton tonight in Europa League.Matthew Benham, owner of Brentford bought them last year and is applying philosophy to both clubs.

Just realised that I saw the film (they always change the names to something completely different in Spanish!). Seems like a reasonable strategy although no guarantees of success. You're probably right on Chelsea's strategy too. I doubt they are breaking any rules but it doesn't seem right. Having said that, you have to laugh when they buy players just to piss the likes of Utd off.

If he requests to go then as long as we get the £40 million (32 after we have paid Barnsley) that's fine by me.

So that's £90m for Stones and £10m for Pogba?
