Sunderland are lining up a bid for Tottenham midfielder Steven Pienaar.
The South African has impressed on loan back at former club Everton, who are expected to try to sign him on a permanent deal over the summer

But Tottenham want £5million for the 29-year-old and Everton may struggle to raise the funds immediately, with Sunderland believing they can step in.
Aston Villa may also be interested if Roberto Martinez, who tried to sign Pienaar on loan in January, takes over at Villa Park.

he is probably my favourite player ever but then that isn`t hard as I only started supporting Everton in 1988 which was the start of the decline in the club.

In this article on the OS it says..

"In addition, Steven Pienaar, Denis Stracqualursi and Royston Drenthe's loan spells will come to an end on June 30."

All hyperlinks are removed for Stracq & Royston, but the Peanut one remains ... equally all the released players are gone from the senior players listing...

I was just coming here to say the same thing.

He changes his picture quite a bit too and it's still him after his goal at OT so fingers crossed.

We gave them Saha so Harry can do us a good deal for Pienaar.

Everton To Tie Up Pienaar Deal After Nearing Tottenham’s Valuation

South African on way back to Merseyside.
Download the Free CaughtOffside App Now at the iTunes App store by CLICKING HERE
Everton hope to conclude a deal to re-sign Steven Pienaar from Tottenham after nearing the North London club’s valuation of the winger.
Pienaar was signed by Spurs from Everton in January 2011 but started just ten games for the Lilywhites, prompting manager Harry Redknapp to allow him to return Goodison Park on loan in January.
The South African international was influential as Everton rallied to finish 7th in the League, scoring four times, including a late equaliser in an exhilarating 4-4 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Pienaar has expressed a wish to stay at Everton, who have been negotiating a price with Spurs for the 30-year-old since the end of the season.
Tottenham beat off competition from Chelsea to sign the former Dortmund midfielder, who had six months left on his contract, for just £3 million but it is likely Everton will have to pay more than double that to secure his permanent return.

At least he is not fannying about. Moyes obviously confident Pienaar wants back, doesn't want to go anywhere else, and hopefully the player will agitate if Spurs not playing ball.

Very unEvertonFC of them stating we are looking to sign someone.

They probably want Baines though in a straight swap

Would love Pienaar back but anything above £3m would be a joke! I believe he only has 12 months left on his contract at Spurs so there is no need to rush and pay over the odds.

Spurs would be over the moon with that! To sign him for that would be foolish when he literally has little left on his contract and is completely distant from Spurs as a club and its fans. I would think we would have the upper hand in negotiations but Spurs are very shrewd when it come to transfers so wont be easy.
