I seen him play at the start of the season. Being loaned out was a great idea, he needed some proper match time.

Everton left-back Luke Garbutt's loan at Colchester United has been extended by a further month and the 20yr old is now set to remain with the League One club until November 10th.

Getting plenty of game time at the minute for Colchester, scored a couple of goals as well.

Luke Garbutt has emerged as a target for newly-promoted Bournemouth according to reports.
The England under-21 international will be out of contract this summer and could leave as a free agent this summer if the offer of a new deal remains unsigned.
The Cherries, who won the Championship are eying the young defender and wo9uld either make a cash offer to the Blues to try and edge out interest from rival clubs like Liverpool or let a tribunal set the fee.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez wants Garbutt to stay but the 21-yr old may leave in search for first-team football.
Left-back is a position Howe is keen to strengthen as 37-yr old former Leeds United defender Ian Harte is their current backup option.

Paper bollox, seriously, why would Garbutt leave Everton for Bournemouth? I could understand if City or Chelsea were after him, but Bournemouth? An immediate relegation battle?Super wrote:Luke Garbutt has emerged as a target for newly-promoted Bournemouth according to reports.

Re: 29: Luke Garbutt - Preening himself somewhere else at the mo
My worry is that he'll want to leave for first team football, because he's clearly an amazing talent, but has arguably the best left back in the league keeping him out of the team. Would love to see him stay though, because if he bides his time, I reckon he could be even better for us than Baines.

Why ? Don't Everton give him a contract and then loan him out.

I agree Sef, that's the way the Sky 4 do it, he'd do really well for one of the newly promoted prem teams, for example.

Will be a disaster if we lose him on a free this summer! Could easily become a £25m left back very quickly.
I dont feel like the club are doing enough to keep him especially when you consider our ageing squad - we simply cant afford to let him leave. Baines has probably only got a couple more seasons in him and Garbutt is his natural replacement.
Garbutt should stay with Everton - he's very close to the first team rather than go to some club battling relegation.

Yep, need to get him on a 5 year deal even if it means paying him 1st team money, at least then even if he does leave, we'll get something. That said, Baines is getting older and Oviedo seems to be unlucky with injuries. Garbutt is 100% a premier league left back.

Other clubs sign players to long contracts and loan them out within the Prem. Nothing to say we can't do this if we can't offer him regular first team football in the short term.

I have been saying get him on a contract and loan him out to a Premiership side for a while now.
If Bournemouth want him then brilliant, everyone is happy. He is playing in the premiership and we have him on a long term contract.

Seems to have worked good style for them.

MArtinez obviously thinks not otherwise we'd offer him something.
Bit of a strange one as he seems to be a decent player and was unfortunate that a lot of his games time was when were playing utter shite over Christmas.

Agree everyone with the loan out 'Chelsea model'. Unfortunately Martinez is more concerned with tying up Alcarez and Kone on long term deals!

Re: 29: Luke Garbutt - Preening himself somewhere else at the mo
We should be going flat out to keep this lad at Everton. WHy not play him left midfield, in front of Baines? He can learn from Leighton there too and, to be realistic, Baines hasn't got much longer at the top of his game. And if Baines is refusing to take pens these days, his time is definitely nearly up.
At least we might get the odd dead ball and corner on the head of one of our players for a change.

Only if we offer him a contract. That's why we got stung on Dan Gosling.

You'd like to think we've actually offered a contract!

Re: 29: Luke Garbutt - Preening himself somewhere else at the mo
Swansea City are among a number of clubs targeting Everton left-back Luke Garbutt, according to reports.
The 22-year-old is out of contract next month and has been offered a new deal at Goodison Park, but he is yet to agree.
The Swans and newly-promoted Bournemouth are apparently leading the way to prise him away from Everton, both clubs reportedly holding talks with the youngster about a move. Liverpool are also rumoured to be interested, but a move to Anfield is unlikely.
If Garbutt is to leave the north west, then a tribunal would decide compensation for Everton and it is believed they could be in line to receive as much as £4m.
Swans boss Garry Monk has been keen to bring in another left-back since Ben Davies left the club last summer.
