What's his midfield role? A defensive holder / Makelele style or a Ossie type?

Anyone want to tell me about this lad, or is he that obscure?

You could say he is a box to box midfield player and when we gets around the opposing box has a decent shot. However he has never progressed to really learn his trade to a high level, mainly due to the fact that he rarely plays. Too often he would get ahead of the ball rather then be on hand to receive it and build up the play, or not get back to take the ball off his defenders to start the play. Bit of a headless chicken really. I dont think he has the desire to be a top class pro. He refuses to leave Utd despite the fact for 2 seasons now, its clear Ferguson doesn't rate him anymore. Now it seems he would rather sit on the bench (or not even on the bench) until the end of the season so he can get a free transfer. This is even more baffling seeing that an injury to another player or good run of games could see him make the Irish squad for Euros. Dont think he has his priorities right but unfortunately he's about our level at the moment due to finances.

Scott Gemill of today really. No

He's not that bad!

I agree. He is more like Gareth Farrelly. Very Happy

Bit like Danny Williamson too

It's not that, we need a striker Tonts, £2m is like £30m at the moment for us.

But what strikers can we get for £2million? We've actually got shit loads of strkers and they're all shite or get feck all chances in the game. I think creativity/composure in the final third is our biggest problem. A midfielder who is comfortable on the ball and can pass will help us a lot. I just have no idea if he is this.

Not convinced, but IMWT!

Arteta wasn't "doing it" when we signed him, neither was Peinaar. If Moyes believes he can get something out of Gibson then I'll give the lad a chance!

Stillwon't believe it until I see him standing in the Park End with a scarf over his head though!

I can't see Spurs outbidding us but there is a good chance that Sunderland could. I'm sure that Gibson would jump at working with his fellow county man Martin O'Neil and they seem to be on the up at the moment where we seem to be on the decline.

Moyes spoke about the lack of players for us able to shoot from distance after the Assou-Ekotto goal. I don't think this was a coincidence.

Bily got into a couple of decent positions on the edge of the area last night, the first time Donovan ignored him and the second time Bily played it wide instead of going for it.

I often think that Moyes must discourage shooting from distance to be honest. Arteta had a cracking shot on him but rarely had a go. We now have Bily and Drenthe who both possess strong shots from distance but never seem to go for it. I have always found it strange and throught that Moyes' comments were strange also.
