That's a great little read - thanks for posting the link.
Good read.

Lukaku would do well to have a read of it as well over the next 48 hours few days.

Give the average British player thirty Premier League appearances, a couple of England caps, and a nice write-up in a broadsheet, and they will start assuming that the Balon d’Or is an inevitability.  Then come the wage demands, then the apparent ‘need’ to be playing Champions League football and then, almost inevitably, will follow a period of mid-career stagnation at a club they weren’t ready to play for.

looks like he did. Thanks for pointing it out to him.  jocolor

Absolutely. Or even Naismith - clearly no Barkley, but did really well when being played in the correct position rather than on the wing. Six weeks isn't the end of the world.

Roberto Martinez confirms Everton star Ross Barkley will be out injured 'for a long, long time'

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/roberto-martinez-confirms-everton-star-7627220

Roberto Martinez has said star midfielder Ross Barkley could be out of action for "anything from seven weeks to four or five months".

The England played picked up a medial knee ligament injury in training yesterday and underwent a scan today to determine just how bad the problem was.

Speaking after the Blues' 2-2 draw at Leicester City, Martinez said: "We had a scan but it was difficult to determine the extent of the injury. It is a problem with a medial ligament in his knee, but we don’t know how bad the injury is.

“We know there is a partial tear of the ligament and that could mean anything from seven weeks to four or five months, so we need to be cautious.”

The Everton boss conceded it was a huge blow to lose Barkley.

“I think Ross Barkley is a phenomenal footballer and we are going to miss him – there are no two ways about it,” said Martinez. “He was so sharp in pre-season and I think he came back with a different approach and a different mindset.

“He was very unfortunate to get injured in such an innocuous challenge in training and now he is going to be out for a long, long time."

Plenty of reports knocking around that City will make a £30m plus bid in the summer. To be honest, if we don't make Champions League, its probably unlikely that we will be able to hold on to him, and perhaps foolish not to accept a substantial bid that could help Martinez to rebuild the squad (the defense!) next summer. In fairness to Naismith, he has done really we in his absence but its clear we need Ross to help bring more out of Lukaku this season, and quickly!

What we have to be careful of as supporters, the club could sell Barkley to help fund a new stadium in Walton Park.
but , then again , Barkley will be only to well aware what happened to Jack Rodwell.

Due to FFP restrictions, I doubt City can make silly offers anymore. Until they grow their revenue stream they are likely to play hardball with perhaps a substantial sign on fee/wage packet for Barkley to coax him over. I think City want English players that will fit into the first team and outside Barkley, there are few of them about.
