20: Ross Barkley - Royal Blue future
Tim Cahill rates this lad really highly - here's hoping we see him in the first team this coming season.

Re: 20: Ross Barkley - Royal Blue future
Ross got injured in a practice match this morning and has done his ankle ligaments. He has returned home on crutches and is likely to be out for 6-8 weeks

Re: 20: Ross Barkley - Royal Blue future
seems the talk of his injury is wrong, he's just tweeted that he's looking forward to his first game for 9 months so all seems ok!

Where in the pecking order is he compared to Gueye, do we think?

I think as he's home grown, younger and arguably has more potential than Gueye, we'll probably see Gueye more. Barkley looks like a central midfielder to me, someone who can take a game by the scruff of the neck and run the midfield. So he's in a position we've got a lot of players in. I hope he gets a few starts and some substitute appearances this season, just so he knows he's going to get a regular first team place in the next few years. Certainly in terms of ability, he should be starting fairly regularly.

...unless we sign Joey Barton, in which case they will have to fight it out for a starting place. Probably literally.

Based on last season Gueye didn't do too much to impress me

All I remember is the one on one he missed against Wolves I think it was. Maybe this will be the season he shines!

Didn't realise he was black. And he's got a great sense of humour, that crack about Vaughan and Vic is a brilliant piss take.
Re: 20: Ross Barkley - Royal Blue future
How old is that? Cos he's currently the best player in our first team aged 17.

Jsut found it on the website, after I saw on twitter someone mention that Ross Barkley could play for Nigeria, so had to look it up.

So if he is Nigeria... Does this mean he is actually 39, but says he is 17

I don't think he is. Just having a laugh.
Vic and Vaughan, I'm guessing he's talking about the reserve team.
Either way, I think he's a better find than Rodders, who sadly had not been given a specific role, and has just lost his way.

I was thinking of running a sweepstake on when the first 'Barkley to Chelsea/United/City' rumour would surface in the media. I'm going with October 15th. And for a bonus point the rumoured transfer fee will be £25m.

Transfer Clunge mentioned it yesterday..
