Seem to remember him looking quite handy in the euro qualifiers. Don' know too much about him, though.

Bit confused by this (no emoticons to help) but.............
The Daily Mail do seem to feature a lot in the 'Transfer' threads. They were correct (first to confirm, I believe) about Bily. However, the fee of £5million seems a bit below the valuations I have read earlier.

Decent buy if true. Don't know how he'll adapt to the premier league but he's only played 27 games for Athletico and has been there less than a year. Also would he be eligible for Europa league games as he's played CL qualifiers.
Decent experience (47 international caps) and seems to chip in with the goals as well.

Guardian seem to think it's a goer for 5.7 million spond.

Andy Hunter is the guy. Usually got substance then. Heitaga seems to be an ideal buy for the positions he covers. We are like a mini-version of Man Citeh at the moment. This Lescott deal is turning out to be blessing in disguise. Get way over the odds and then spend it all on new toys

I made that comment because I firmly believe that the Dutch have messed up over the years due to their love of in-fighting. If they could embrace a spot of "Dove-love" they would probably win every international competition ever.

It's a little bit like the rooney saga, but moyes moved to get it sorted out in time to splash the cash a bit more. As much as I think lescott is a terrific player, far better than anyone (other than us and perhaps mark hughes) has given him credit for. The strength in depth of our squad has always been one of our biggest weaknesses. If moyes can get a stronger squad then it's possible we could yet benefit from all this.

I liked Lescott as a player and as a person but, on reflection, he probably isn't that much better than Distin. Since we have Distin and Bily instead of Lescott I believe that straightaway we are stronger. One or more players only makes it better.
The Lescott sale is good for Everton. Have we got anyone to sell them next Summer?

Re: 5: Johnny Heitinga -"proud Evertonian"
I think has been talked about since Lescott moved, we were in dire needsw of teh funds he created and maybe we should just be gratefull he left - it's a similar situation to when Rooney left.Statman wrote:Tonteau wrote:Statman wrote:Tonteau wrote:Statman wrote:Barry Horne's Equaliser wrote:Bluejaguar wrote:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1209823/Everton-set-snap-Dutch-star-Heitinga-Atletico-Madrid-5m.html

Re: 5: Johnny Heitinga -"proud Evertonian"
DAVID MOYES will seal a £5million deal for Atletico Madrid defender John Heitinga today. The Everton boss agreed a fee for the 25-year-old Dutch international, who was last night thrashing out personal terms. If all goes to plan, Heitinga will arrive at Goodison Park hot on the heels of £5.3m signing Sylvain Distin. And Moyes should still have plenty left from the £24m Everton received from Manchester City for Joleon Lescott to bring more in before Tuesday's deadline. Moyes said: "We bought Joleon for just under £5m and we have made profit, which we are hopefully going to put back in and strengthen the club. I'm hoping to do more than another two if I can."
