Super wrote:Liverpool are plotting a shock bid for Everton star Seamus Coleman, after Toffees manager David Moyes refused to rule out player sales due to their financial position.

The Blues are currently unable to bring in new signings at Goodison Park as the Merseysiders have reached their overdraft limit and even if the club did sell some of their better players to raise funds then that cash would only go to paying off bank debts.

Moyes and the Everton board have grown increasingly anxious with financial situation and could give themselves room to breathe by offloading several stars before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday with bitter rivals Liverpool ready to take advantage of the situation.

While key duo Mikel Arteta and Phil Jagielka have been strongly linked with Arsenal, Kenny Dalglishs interest in Coleman comes as somewhat of a surprise.

But according to sources close to the Reds boss, the Scotsman rates the Republic of Ireland international very highly and is considering a £8m bid for the right-sided player, who can operate as a full-back or in more advanced attacking position.

Everton will be reluctant to sell the versatile 22-year-old, especially to their Merseyside neighbours, but the Blues may be forced to cash-in on the youngster if they cannot offload another one of his stars this week.

"Everybody's got a price - Fabregas, Ronaldo, you name it. If anyone bids big enough I'm sure we'd take it. I'm not daft, Moyes told Sky Sports.

Dalglishs monetary situation starkly contrasts, he is being encouraged to carry on spending by owners Fenway Sports Group - despite spending over £50m on transfers this summer.

Having signed Stewart Downing to operate on the left-side, Dalglish wants a similar potency on the opposite flank to provide wide-service to strikers Luiz Suarez and Andy Carroll.

Coleman certainly fits the Anfield clubs policy of buying young talent with a potentially higher sell-on value, but a move between the Merseyside rivals will always be a controversial one.

The former Sligo Rovers may feel a move across the city would benefit his long term career plans by aiding his ambitions to one day play in the UEFA Champions League.

I'm tempted to ban you for that. jocolor

Seamus back from injury. Good timing with Landon going back after Saturday, even though comparing Seamus to Landon is like comparing Andy Carroll to somebody who can play football.

I like the lad. Nowhere near as polished as Lonnie Donegan, but for £60K what do you expect?
DM probably allowed Seamus to recover at a leisurely pace, until we lost LD to the Galaxy.
The break may have done him good.
DM clearly has him as the replacement for Hibbo and Pip, once they've passed their sell by dates.
Can he emulate Baines? Remember, Baines couldn't get a game when Lescott was here, so Seamus has time on his side.

Ireland Euro squad announcement in 15 mins. Coleman likely now to miss out. Really needs to write this season off and ready himself for next season. Jesus, evening McFadden has gone ahead of him in picking order at Everton

Coleman future at Everton

SEAMUS COLEMAN looks set to commit his future to Everton and pen a new contract at Goodison Park.

The Donegal defender's current deal runs until 2015, but having nailed down the right-back position this season with a string of fine displays, David Moyes wants to reward the man he signed for £60,000 from Sligo Rovers in 2008.

Coleman (right) is enjoying a rich vein of form after a difficult time last season. He has also finally broken into the Ireland team, having been left out of Giovanni Trapattoni's Euro 2012 squad. The 24-year-old is believed to have a clause in his contract that entitles him to a new deal after a certain number of first team appearances and that has been passed.

His agent Hayden Evans confirmed that talks were ongoing.

"We have held positive talks with Everton and I am confident there will be a positive conclusion soon," said Evans.

Meanwhile, Darron Gibson wants to experience the Champions League all over again, this time with Everton.

The Derryman, who scored for Manchester United in a quarter and semi-final of the competition, admits getting to the group stage with Everton would top all those achievements. "Could you imagine Real Madrid or Barcelona coming for a Champions League game?," the 25-year-old said. "The atmosphere at Goodison would be frightening."

Good news. He's no world beater but a decent squaddie and could yet turn into a very useful fullback.
